How should we approach the EFL game Wednesday? Absolutely zero chance of winning the competition unless we win every round on penalties so play a second eleven Wednesday, if we can scrape one together, and go all in Saturday would be my choice as 3 points is desperately needed
The game is Tuesday and we have a 6 week break. No one needs to be rested. We need to win both games.

Needs must at the moment. Let’s be honest we will not win the EFL Cup. What happens if we pick up more injuries before Saturday?
Yeah but its about winning ways, having a positive menality, look at it another way, say we lost them both, is Frank gone?

I take your point. If lose both he should be given another window to give him the tools to do his job. Whether we can attract or afford any more tools is another matter

Remember next tme you see anyone moaning that we havent won a trophy wince 95 that you dont give two about them.
Hahaha, mate we're not winning this one, what harm in going out a couple of rounds early before the inevitable pasting off a sky six darling?

Unless you really really think we desperately need the £300 we get for reaching the Milk Cup quarters.

You need actual strikers to win any cup, and that includes the so-called micky mouse cup.

OK, but let's assume we play our strongest, win the EFL Cup but go down. Try balancing a European campaign with a 46-game Champ season. Look what happened to Wigan and Brum.

Never been back since have they? Wigan have spent a few seasons in L1 and Brum could easily have joined them about 4-5 times in the past decade.

Needed some pace so we signed Mcneil and Maupay. No wonder we're down there

The frustrating thing is that if they were lining up agaisnt us they’d look like world beaters. Both have punished us numerous times in the past.

Last season not a single part of the team was working except the goalkeeper.

Now I think the goalkeeper and defence are functioning

The biggest disappointment is the midfield for me. It’s just not working and we can’t blame the usual lack of pace from Davies Gomes Siggurdson for it. Onana needs to start performing and Gueye needs to do more or be dropped.

The strike force is just as poor as it was last season. I was hoping having Calvert Lewin fit would offset the Richarlison sale but he can’t stay fit and when he is fit he’s too sloppy.

Sloppiness on the ball, hesitancy, and casual nature of just ballooning chances like it won’t hurt us, seem to have been a trait at Everton for absolutely years now regardless of manager.

I don’t see other teams, even at the bottom, have problems with: taking throw ins, such poor corners and set pieces, two players going for the same ball from the same team and slowing down a move or losing it (this seems to happen to us two or three times a game whereas you barely see it for other teams), every single time we block a ball it seems to fly out for a corner, every time we take a set piece we seem to foul the opposition keeper, every time one of our players has a shot they fall over (especially Calvert Lewin)

This stuff was happening long before Lampard but I don’t know why it seems to affect us so much. Other teams get a throw in and just throw it straight to one of their players. All of ours seem to be a challenge and usually end up going backwards to the centre back who then has to boot it under pressure straight back out.

We just have a sloppy culture about the flub, far too casual in everything and it shows then on match days when we struggle to execute basics.

The problems start at the top. I almost feel guilty for ever criticizing a manager anymore, or a 34 year old RB whose legs have been shot for 4 years now but we have to play him because we haven’t addressed the problem, selling off our best player at the time because the current manager had an issue with him only to sack said manager a week later, etc. This club is ran like a petting zoo. And those who run it never have to answer for anything. They know how passionate this fan base is and they know eventually people will turn on the manager. They’ll make a change and say how we have standards, want to win trophies, etc. get the fans excited again, continue to run the club like a petting zoo, rinse and repeat. It’s pathetic and quite frankly embarrassing.

It's close at the bottom this season, by the looks of it there are 8 or 9 teams who could go down. There's no reason to believe we won't be in the thick of it again.

I don't think we are going to be able to expect much from DCL now so a striker and winger in January is a must. It really is too soon to predict it. So, yeah in conclusion I have no clue if we'll stay up.
