Everton Women forward Kelly Gago is free to leave Goodison Park this month, provided the release clause is met.
Gago handed in a transfer request last week as she looks to force a move away from Merseyside.
The 27-year-old had signed a new contract just six months ago, committing herself to the club until 2028.
However, reports state that the striker is pushing for a move back to her native France.
PSG made a bid of £43,000, significantly shy of the £500,000 release clause. Gago insisted to French outlet L’Equipe that Everton are blocking her move to Paris.
Manager Brian Sorensen has now stated that the forward is ‘free to go’, but only once the release clause has been met.
He said: “She’s out for the minute. She’s not fit or available to play. She wants to go.
“She has a release clause in her contract so the club that wants her can just pay that and she is free to go.
“From my understanding, it’s like 10% of that release clause that has been submitted, so I don’t think she’s going anywhere.”
EVERTON MUSTN’T BE HELD TO RANSOM BY WANTAWAY FORWARD
Gago has nine goals in 18 games for the Toffees, joining from FC Nantes in January 2025.
The relationship between Gago and the club has clearly soured. Her head has been turned amidst interest from PSG.
However, if they want to sign the French international, they’ll have to meet Everton’s demands.
When asked if there is a possibility Gago will play for Everton again this season, Sorensen added: “I don’t know at this point. We have to see how everything plays out.”
Everton currently sit in 10th in the WSL table, just four points ahead of bottom-place Liverpool.
Brian Sorensen’s side welcome Brighton to Goodison Park tomorrow (Friday) evening for a 7pm kick-off.
