Everton left-back Adam Aznou is among the names Dutch giants Ajax are looking at ahead of next month’s transfer window.
The Eredivisie side are looking to invest in their defence in the New Year, with Aznou’s name among a list of targets.
The Moroccan has not yet made a competitive appearance for the Blues since his summer move from Bayern Munich.
The 19-year-old did suffer an injury shortly after his move to the club, but has struggled to establish himself.
It was reported in October that the club were seeking a loan move for the defender in January.
La Liga outfit Getafe were said to be interested, but could now face competition from Dutch giants Ajax.
David Moyes has previously stated that the youngster needs to develop physically before being ready for Premier League football.
“First of all, I want him to be with us and I want him to train and get used to him,” he said back in October.
“He’s a really good footballer, a nice footballer. He’s just got a bit of building up to do, a bit of physicality to get, so we’ll do that and we’ll see how he develops.
“He’s above that level (U21s), but it doesn’t mean that he might not need to get a few games – if we’re struggling to get him game time, we might need to use him (in the U21s) at different times.”
A LOAN MOVE WOULD BE GOOD FOR AZNOU’S DEVELOPMENT AT THE BLUES
Fellow defender Jarrad Branthwaite blossomed during his brief spell in the Eredivisie during the 2022/23 season.
The centre-back spent a year at PSV Eindhoven, making 27 appearances, scoring two goals.
He also lifted silverware, beating Ajax in the final of the KNVB Cup on penalties.
A loan move to a competitive side such as Ajax could do wonders for Aznou’s development.
Perhaps this is one to keep an eye on ahead of next month’s window.
