Everton manager David Moyes has provided an injury update ahead of tomorrow’s game against Arsenal.
The Toffees have had an anxious wait over the fitness of some key players since last week’s defeat to Chelsea.
Indeed, in-form Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall limped off after just 15 minutes at Stamford Bridge.
As anticipated, Moyes has now confirmed that the 27-year-old will not be available for tomorrow’s clash.
Speaking at today’s pre-match press conference, he said: “Kiernan’s doing well. But not available for the game. He’ll be a big miss for us, but that’s what happens this time of year.
“Every club has got injuries or suspensions.”
The influential Jack Grealish also sustained an injury at Chelsea. However, Moyes insists that the England international is available for selection.
“Jack’s okay,” Moyes said. “He’ll be fit and available for the game.”
In other welcome news, the Everton boss confirmed that summer signing Merlin Rohl could be back in contention.
The German has been absent since undergoing hernia surgery last month.
“Merlin Röhl is back,” Moyes confirmed. “He’s been training and hopefully he’ll be back and available for the game.”
IT WAS A MIXED NEWS TYPE OF PRESS CONFERENCE AHEAD OF TOMORROW’S GAME
Everton will be without Idrissa Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye due to their participation at AFCON.
However, Grealish’s availability is a huge boost for the Toffees. Likewise that of Merlin Rohl, especially with Dewsbury-Hall sidelined.
Indeed, Dewsbury-Hall has been superb of late and will be a big miss against top class opposition.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side got away with one against bottom-of-the-table Wolves last week.
Viktor Gyokeres has struggled for goals since signing for the Gunners. The Swede has just one in his last 10 league games.
We all know what usually happens next in these situations.
