Report: Wilfried Gnonto, who Roberto Mancini says is ‘quality’ turns down move to Everton

Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto has now stated that he does not want to move to Everton this summer.

The ‘quality’ 19-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Goodison Park, however it seems that the Italian has now ruled out a move to Merseyside.

That is according to TEAMtalk, who report that Gnonto has advised his agent that a move to Everton does not interest him.

Indeed, the young attacker may favour a move to Serie A, or remain at Elland Road for another season, despite Everton’s efforts to lure him back to the Premier League.

The Toffees recently had a £15m bid rejected for the forward, and it seemed as though Sean Dyche may return with an increased offer.

However, it now seems that Everton have missed out on the 19-year-old, with Juventus reportedly keen on securing his signature.

Gnonto could have been great at Everton, but now an alternative must be found

Wilfried Gnonto could have been an interesting signing for Sean Dyche’s side and is highly rated by Italy manager Roberto Mancini.

Indeed, the former Manchester City boss handed Gnonto his international debut for the Azzurri making him the youngest-ever goalscorer for the men’s Italian national team.

However, the Blues will now have to turn their attention elsewhere and have been linked with a loan move for Southampton attacker Kamaldeen Sulemana.

The 21-year-old was linked with a January move to Goodison Park when he was at French side Rennes, however the Ghanaian instead made the switch to the South Coast.

Scoring two goals in 18 Premier League games, both of which came on the last day of the season in a 4-4 draw against Liverpool, Sulemana’s efforts were not enough to keep Southampton in the top-flight.

Everton could now take advantage of Southampton’s relegation and reignite their interest in Sulemana, as any move for Wilfried Gnonto now appears to be off.
