Everton are increasingly confident of securing a deal to sign Romelu Lukaku on a permanent basis, with Dominic King in the Daily Mail suggesting that a deal could be concluded “within 48 hours”.

Merseyside Football Reporter for The Telegraph, Chris Bascombe has followed up the claim this morning, reporting ‘Talks between the Merseyside club and Chelsea have been progressing, and Roberto Martinez believes he is close to agreeing terms’
Atletico Madrid, Wolfsburg, Juventus and Spurs have all reportedly been chasing Lukaku’s signature, but it’s sounding more and more like that Everton could pull off what would be a major coup.
Speaking immediately after Belgium’s elimination from the World Cup, Lukaku spoke of a transfer to Everton being a possibility.
Lukaku: “I have the opportunity to stay at Everton, it is a possibility and it is something we will have to talk about. But first I want to go back to Belgium, see my family and get some rest,”
