Confirmed: Martinez New Everton Manager - All Reaction Here

He did a good one with Mike Hughes of radio M'side. Basically saying he looks at players and expects them to show proof they can play in a number of formations. In the way that hiring non-specialist utility players typified Moyes' approach, I think we'll see an emphasis on buying players who can be flexible to different organisation will typify Martinez.

Until we get significant investment that is the approach any manager of the club will need to adopt so I am happy to see that he understands the role and what he has to do in the market

I'm happy with his appointment. Have a gut feeling he is going to be good for Everton. In a way its a total lottery. Bill certainly picked right with Moyes and he steadied us. Hopefully he has done it again.
Best of luck Roberto

He's one for two atm: he gave Smith a new contract when he took control and that disaster was evened out by hiring Moyes.

How long before we can seriously judge him?

Unless our first season is utterly utterly awful and by that I mean bottom 6, I am willing to give him 18 months before making significant judgement.

That's more than ironic given that he was their first choice for manager. So do they think that (having finished below us last season - making us a better PL team, as we were this season) he would have taken them down?

Do not worry or listen about those blurts..... they have more issues than we have, the almighty Dogleish lost his job for Suarez and he has betrayed them beyond belief

As independant fans are now realizing LFC are not the club they used to be, their morals , beliefs and values are questionable....

Let them **** us off, but we will gain strength from what has happened as we always will and survive but then cockheads will lose interest and turn to teams that are in the top four and start buying their shirts rather than the red****e

Manchester will become the new capital of NORWWAY....

Roberto Martinez wasn't lying when he said he couldn't wait to get started....he's been working at Finch Farm this evening

I'll give him until Christmas. If we're in the bottom half of the table at that time, I'd expect him to be sacked as it'd be clear we'd made the wrong call.

If he finishes outside the top ten in his first season, I'd expect him to be sacked.

He's not a big name manager, therefore he has to prove himself, and if he doesn't he's out the door IMO. Everton should not be the safest job in world football just because we're a "nice club".

Patience, yes, but not stupidity. He's taking over a top six club. If he doesn't at the very least maintain that stature 18 months from now, he should be out the door.
