I don't think we're going to be the team we're hoping to be under Roberto, he just can't grasp the defensive side to the game, no matter how you look at it Wigan were the same, great to watch sometimes but in his last 2 seasons they suffered some huge defeats and our defence is now looking scarey
Relax. We had one of the best defenses in the league last season. It's the start of his second season.

Thing is, you can't just buy a centre back and expect that to solve the problems. defence is all about partnerships and communications. Unfortunate bringing someone in isn't going to sort that straight away. Attacking we're fine - but RM needs to sort the defence/fitness out sharpish.

individual mistakes can be ironed out by good coachin i think... we're just makin way too many atm. plus the set up of the team etc, going all out against a team like chelsea

either way martinez needs to address it. personel or coaching idk but its danger atm

Jags and Distin are both over 30 and have had almost 30 years of premiership experience between them.

They shouldn't need to be coached.

Every fkn time they got the ball they looked like scoring. Every fkn time !!!

Back off..... backed off.... ball watching... backed off....

Goal.

Premier league defending? Have a word with yourself tonight captain jags. Phil Jargielka

Stones and Distin had an understanding last season, which is what Martinez should go for against West Brom.

Perhaps, though as players get older theres less that can be done about it. Whoever said Jagielka's performance reminded them of the Phil Neville Wigan FA cup fumage was spot on, he was appalling and needs to be dropped.
yeah, dont get me wrong mate, it wasnt just about the goals and jagielka was shocking, just feel like we're takin more risks at the back, lettting players run free, not closing players down

could just be something ive got in my head tho. hard to imagine we'll go thru the whole season like these last 3 games

Two matches at Fortress Goodison, and 1 point=Bad. We should have 6 points, and we have 2...Not exactly setting the world on fire. Defense needs sorting in a major way.

Yeah thought that. Briefly leaning on the tunnel wall, shithouse.

Game like this, he should be looking down the tunnel to his players, giving them the eye. Not leaning against the wall fannying with his hair.
Shiit we can't even win the tunnel.

Did you watch the game mate
yes mate. but to state we'd concede 6 against brom is just stupid. One offside goal, balances out the Howard handball, fair enough.
but then two desperately unlucky deflections and a cock up by Besic and its 3-3. On another day we could have won it.
Not denying that there was some shocking defending there but we'll beat Brom without problems next week.

Some of them had a terrific game though, eto'o, naisy, kev, coleman, absolutely gave everything today, that chance to make it 5-4 though, would have been goal of the month like
