Zonal Marking - article on Fellaini

What do you mean "excuse"?!

To be fair, it will mostly be the fans who will do the excusing. "We have just bought 2 new players, they both had signing on fees of 800million pound, and their agents also made 400million pound each, so all the TV money has gone already, what more do you want?" etc etc.

Many Evertonians will be pacified by just re-investing the Fellaini money, there won't be as much pressure to use the new TV money on squad improvement.

We should be looking at more than just 2 quality replacements IMO, we should be looking at about 4 QUALITY REPLACEMENTS, not free transfers from Scotland etc.

I love fellaini but I do feel the only way to move forward is by selling him to the highest bidder. I'd imagine 25-30M depending where he goes...my preference would be abroad!

If selling him resulted in us bringing in say negredo Fer and 1/2 of moyes gems, that would represent excellent trading.

After that if some of the tv money and player trading could be used bringing in 2/3 more new faces I think we'd come into next season an Awfull lot stronger.

Fellaini sale is probably gonna be key to us moving forward. Great article

He's done brilliantly in his advanced role for us (especially this season) but I'd like to see us move away from the combative #10 type and play a real playmaker there, the huge presence of Fellaini and Cahill before him has/had far too often negated the fact that we had geniunely able strikers ahead of them.

Jelavic obviously plays second fiddle to Fellaini in our final third and his distinct lack of service has more often than not seen him drift out wide to pick up the ball, which has had us all fuming for a good 80% of the season.

Other teams have the likes of Bale, Mata, Silva, Coutinho, Sessegnon, Gaston Ramirez, Cazorla/Wilshere, Ruiz, Kagawa/Rooney playing these #10 roles and in essence we still have a mid-90's style centre forward taking down most of our attacks, with the money made from Fellaini i'd like to see a large chunk of it spent on a playmaker type, if Moyes is still here next season I doubt this will happen but hey, a guy can dream.

Fellaini is a great player but we have shown we can cope without him . If we got 25mill from him and his and nevs wages gone we could get 2 quality players plus 2 squad players . Thats 3 players for 1 player and thats what we lack at the moment is depth . If we had the extra players in january then we could of swapped out of form players for new fresh ones and some of the draws could of being wins which would of gotten us in the top 4 . We are always a player of from good things so selling felli makes sence . Also if we sold felli we can use the tv money to get rid of some debt which is what we need to do . If felli stays then we are going to be in a worst finacial postion than we are now

Also if we did get 25m+ then we can either go one of two ways . We create a team around mirallas as a number 10 which would mean bringing in a winger for the right and a new striker or we could base a team on barkley or a new number 10 like honda. If felli goes i would like to see a team like this

1st team
Howard
Coleman. Jags. Lescott. Baines

Gibson. Fer
Mirallas. Honda. Pienaar/oviedo
Negredo/ new striker
2nd team
Howard
Coleman Jags Lescott Baines

Fer gibson.
New winger. Mirallas. Pienaar
Negredo

This is what I've been saying for weeks, his sale wouldn't affect us massively, it would actually benefit us more. We coped well without him when he was banned back in December.

He's been found out IMO, his dominance at the start of the season exposed the technique on how to stop him, and that is what teams eventually done. All of this Fellaini plays crap, we play crap, one man team crap etc is ridiculous for anyone to say.

Selling him would help us financially and mentally. We would get a perfect replacement and funds left over for two or three more faces.

Sell Fellaini but DON'T sell Baines.

Sell Fellaini, and get 3 more mirallas would be good enough
-----------Howard-----------
Coleman Distin Jagielka Baines
Mirallas Gibson Osman Mirallas
-----------Mirallas----------
-----------Mirallas----------

After the Wigan game I thought Fellaini is useless for us with his slow pace and poor attitude
However in the Arsenal game and the Sunderland game, when he play at deeper position, he is doing awesome, wins many aerial duels, and did some good tackles.
So I have to say selling Fellaini is not a big loss for us in attack, but quite a big loss defensively. With Gibson did some poor passing in Sunderland game, and Osman completely out of form also, we need to hope that we have some good midfielders coming in the summer.

No i would only have wanayma of that list . We dont need no spl strikers anymore plus hes english so his price will be high. Mccarthy looks good but i feel we could do better
Not every SPL striker stinks - think Hooper with his pace, passing and positioning could do well
