Well, one thing I can say about panto's is at least there's no hidden subtext in the musical numbers like there are in musicals.

For instance, Wicked... Which I believe will be playing in Manchester and London these holidays.


You've just got to watch out for that sneaky subtext.

I've only ever seen one panto, when I was about 5. I didn't like it. It was very childish, predictable and it was absolutely evident that the baddie was "behind you!" and because the main protagonist didn't heed the screaming advice of 300 kids I didn't see the point of joining in.

I haven't joined in with crowd chanting or singing since. They're stupid.

I`m going to two over Chrismas and New Year, as my youngest loves them.
