If we hadnt of sold players last year and got rid of their wages would our debt then of been an increase of say 18 million{just a guess}, so even including the new money coming in we were operating on a vast increase of yearly expenditure and with new contracts offered, the players wages 75-79% of turnover, we are asking about new players to come in and increase it all even more, Im not sure I want any new signings. Even if we get champions league that is not sufficient and will save us, that will only be one lump sum of 30 mill say, just enough to satisfy some debt, maybe buy one or two players, we would need continuous champs league and that is too difficult with our debt that needs to be sorted first before we can keep competing at the top in my opinion{i'm sure some will disagree}

Yep.

We couldn't kill Swansea off yesterday because we lacked creativity and variety big time on the attack.

We've had one game this season where we've dominated the game and not scored and so dropped points.

We've had thirteen games this season where we have scored but haven't kept a clean sheet and so dropped points.

I'm a fan, not an accountant.

Or, we've had plenty of games where we haven't scored enough and been out of sight. Spurs and Arsenal do, hence why they win more than we do.

Nearly all of our wins have been 2-1, that in itself tells a story that we're not clinical enough. Reading we could have been 3-0 up at half time, ended up losing 2-1 because we didn't make use of the pressure we created in midfield.

Arsenal on the other hand, 7-3, 5-2, 5-2, 3-1, 6-1.

Look at United. They concede all over the shop but it doesn't matter because they score plenty of goals. In fact, United have conceded three more than we have, but they've scored 56 and we have 35.

But buying attacking players is much more expensive and diffiucult then buying defensive players.

We can either accept that we let in between 1 or 2 goals most games and try and buy players who will score 2 or 3 every game or we can accept that we'll score 1 or 2 goals every game as it is and try to make sure we let in 0 or 1 goals.

I think if you look at the goals conceded and goals scored numbers for midtable clubs you'll find the latter is a much easier thing to do than the former.

Whilst I agree they are 2 posistions that need addressing anytime soon. Just changing A CB and keeper would make little difference to our season IMO. But a winger/striker and CM really could make a difference if there the right ones.

Look at it purely where we lose most points? Hard to say we don't score regularly and aren't a good attacking unit, even with some of our best players missing.

Moyes has never struggled finding cheap players on the attack or in defence. He bought Jelavic for less than Heitinga. He bought Cahill for less than Distin.

But that argument is neither here nor there. I'm just saying what we need, not whether we can afford it or not.

We've conceded less goals than the league leaders, and the same amount as Tottenham. They score more goals and put games to bed which is where we can't compete currently.

Lewis Holtby - More creative in midfield and Spurs deal can be hijacked if bid placed according to some sources.
Vegard Forren - Cover for CB and Heitinga to be sold because he is not good enough.

These players plus a fit Mirallas and Gibson would absolutley destroy teams and get us CL.

How do you know Forren would help get us to the CL mate ? Have you ever watched him play ? Genuinely interested.

It's more than the amount you concede that gives a picture of your defensive ability IMO.

For instance losing 4 games 9-0 and keeping 34 clean sheets is a much better defensive record that conceding a goal a game every game, assuming your capable of scoring a goal a game yourself, which we are.

For me our defensive performances have cost us a lot more than our attack.
