A lot of our academy players have gone on to have good careers at a Championship level. In terms of Prem output, there's what? Gosling? Gash. Rodwell? Wasted potential. Rooney? Obviously. Then Hibbo and Ossie, who have been top players academy-wise, to get so many years out of them in the Prem.

Barkley is the latest of course. I'm sure he'll at worst be a very good player. Southampton have the most impressive academy I'd have to say.

I think our academy is amazing. We have huge competition in a very small radius. Southampton have a 100 mile catchment area. My friend scouts for saints and said they have more than any other club in regards of local talent to nuture. We have 3 clubs in close proximity who are in the CL more often than not, who also have a youth recruitment drive.

Michael Ball, Francis Jeffers, Joey Barton, Leighton Baines, Jack Rodwell, Victor Anichebe, James Vaughan, Wayne Rooney, Leon Osman, Tony Hibbert, Hope Akpan, Ross Barkley.

Wallace will be a good player if he gets over the injuries, in terms of acadamies thats produced players for profit, prem and feeding the lower leagues I'd say weve done better than most, I would also expect this to improve under the new regime
