Unless we try and make signings like this , who have potential to develop , then we are never going to significantly improve. We have wasted 100s of millions of pounds on older players with no resale value and just look where that has landed us. There has to be a balance between youth and experience.
If we land this lad , along with another more experienced striker , and add them to
Danjuma , then we will be okay , even if DCL is crocked , as usual , for most of the season.

The potential for this to be a disaster like bolasie, Morgan, tuson etc is very low as long as his wages aren’t sky high.
12m is a very low fee in the footballing world and if he does ok and manages to get 30 games under his belt and have a few decent performances, it’s unlikely that we will lose money.
The only concern is that while he is developing , he will be inconsistent ( which is fine) and as our only striking option the team will suffer massively.
We need to sign another to rotate with him to deal with bad form and injuries…. He cannot be expected to play every game like DCL did.

Same sort of stats for a young Portuguese striker that left Sporting for Man utd ....CR7.

Sorry that was a double quote by accident .

The first part was relating to simms.

The second was responding to that article saying he’s not the finished article.
( which was what I remember reading about onnana last year)

Only issue is: do we have the funds to spend 12m on a 19 year old when we really need an experienced goal scorer now? If we do, happy days, but I suspect we don't.

Tim Cahill 2m

Seamus Coleman 60k

Don't need to spend money, recruiting is the important thing. Expecting this lad to come in and be our saviour is very optimistic. Made his first appearance in January of this year, we are buying potential. That's if we manage to get it over the line.

We need a strong forward who can keep the defence occupied and allow the play to move forward. Last season the defence was under pressure nearly all the time.

His goal scoring is yet to be proven but hoping he can pull the games up field with his size and stature.

Bang up for this on the basis we manage to get rid of Maupay, send Cannon on a loan and get in a more experienced CF on loan or on cheap.

Going in with DCL and Chermiti, regardless of Danjuma being able to fill in, leaves us exposed. Danjuma needs to play wide, particularly with McNeil injury and the impending departure of Gray.

Good to invest in potential hopefully he's the third striker we can develop, weird he seemingly didn't know we were even doing a deal for him hope he doesn't turn it down
