Because of the goals scored, it has to be Lescott, but, in terms of performances Jagielka was just as good. Whereas Jags took some time to get going, Lescott seemed to tire towards the end, so its a close call, but the goals push Lescott out to not only our player of the year, but surely defender of the year in the premiership.
Credit must be given to Jagielka though, in those first few games most people wouldnt have recoverd at a club this size when the fans get on your back straight away, but Jagielka was able to respond by putting in the type of defending that we havent seen since the famous Ratcliffe last put on a blue shirt.
Overall not a bad little defence Moyes has put together, coupled with the reliable Howard, the classy Yobo and promising Baines. And to be fair, Hibbo, Neville and Valente would be first choice at most clubs outside the top 4.
