Your mum's cooking

My favorite dessert. My mum was a better than adequate cook but she was a magnificent baker, because cakes and pies were what she really cared about. And you wonder why I'm a lardarse. If she even weighed more than 120 I'm not aware of it. Go figure.

This.

Steak and mushroom pie ( plain pastry, not puff ) with double cooked chips.

However hard I try I can't get the pie to taste as good as my mum's did.

Oh, as we got older it was generally accompanied with a bottle of red, something which I have managed to replicate successfully !

All mums cook the best, and no arguing that point please :)

What do you remember fondly about it.
Mine would be a roast or scouse, hard to decide.

Has to be a roast or a pan of scouse. My dad's a proper chef and we still don't let him make the gravy. There's always murder when he does because he never makes enough. I want my roast floating.

My mum makes some lovely braised lamb shanks as well.

This explains a lot. Come to America and we'll cook for you Thomas. @RAFUH and I will tag team a dinner menu and convince you of the culinary superiority of all things south of the Mason-Dixon line. Good food soothes the angry soul.
I would be Goat in a fortnight. Probably dead in a month.

*books flights, what a way to go
