Is this going to be another "pivotal" match or is it going to be yet another "match that will kick start our season" I guess we will have to wait for Roberto's press conferrence to find out !

Barkley needs a game or two out just to get his head together

I think this is the best option as well. Look at what a few games out has done to Lukaku, he's coming on much better. Granted he's still got a lot to learn but he was brilliant against City. I think maybe one or two games on the bench might do the same for Barkley. Not sure how it gets picked up on the TV but Barkley has been awful these last few games. He never puts in a tackle and just can't seem to find a pass that the whole of Goodison can clearly see. If he didn't have his head up his backside and played like we know he could we would have done City.

With McGeady suspended, many will get their wish and Mirallas will start, but he won't last beyond 60 mins(He hardly ever completes a game even when he's 'fit'). I would leave Barkley out, because he doesn't deserve a place at present, and he has to learn that he's got to contribute to the TEAM if he wants to fulfil his career potential, and just being on the pitch isn't enough. Naismith has to play because even when not at his very best, you know youre going to get 100% from him. Is Mccarthy supposed to be fit? Bench him till Barry or Besic needs subbing.

Robles
Coleman Stones Jagielka Baines
Besic Barry
Oviedo Naismith Mirallas
Lukaku

Kone just misses out for me on the right, but I think he'll get game time subbing Mirallas or Oviedo. And whisper it...but Roberto will know about Pulis teams playing ultimate hoofball and may be thinking Distin or Alcaraz if they are fit, because of this.

Assuming J Mac is out

Robles
Baines/Jags/Stones/Coleman
Barkley/Besic
Mirallas/Naisy/Oviedo
Rom

If J Mac is in, replace Barkley

ideally we should go two up front with Rom and Kone, but ain't gonna happen

I would go with that except drop Besic if McCarthy is fit and leave Ross to play the role he was given against QPR.

We don't need to be playing with two holding midfield payers against this type of opposition.

I would have hoped Bobby learned that lesson from the visits of Hull and Stoke.

but the Holding Midfielders are primarily there to cover the Baines and Coleman in these games. So by only playing one DM you're saying that only one of those two can go forward at once, never both. Yes, one of the DM's could perhaps push forward a bit more (especially if it's Barkley) but they do have well defined roles which actual help our attacks.

Seriously though, this is a huge match - need Goodison bouncing for it!!!

Depending on McCarthy's fitness I'd go...

Joel

Coleman Jagielka Stones Baines

McCarthy Besic

Mirallas Naismith Oviedo

Lukaku

Without McCarthy I'd play Barkley in the deeper role.

..every match for the last two months has been a huge match
