Turncoat? Catterick swapped him for the hopeless Belfitt, and I don't think Johnson was looking for a move.

He was a boyhood red, I believe, but we all make mistakes.

I didn't have much time for Asa Hartford because of something he did before he came. Don't remember what it was, though.
 

Current hatred? Howard. Barry (if he's played 2 games a week, otherwise fine), McGeady and Naismith (for some of his passing).

Recent past? Alcaraz, for Kiev away. Running him close Hietinga and AvdM.

Ancient history - I somehow never had a place in my heart for Tony Cottee. In spite of an almost 1 in 2 goalscoring record with us, I think its because of the feast we had before he signed that it seemed like a step in the wrong direction at the time, and in retrospect too. Didn't hate him, btw. Just never warmed to him.

Didn't he knock us back for Forest only to join us three days later. well past his best by the time we got him

Truth about what?

To be honest a lot of the shouts make me jealous of all the people going to the games regularly down the years. It's hard to even give a really valid opinion of players before I started watching all the games online about 10 years ago, because you would have only seen them on the rare occasions you made it over to catch a game live or when we were on TV or in very very very very short highlights at the end of MOTD. I'm relatively new to using a forum like this also, so wouldn't have been getting the general match-going fans view either.

For example, I know the story of Nyarko and the fan running on, but could anybody actually explain his whole time at the club and why it came to that? Was it about him, or in part about the general level of crap we were being fed under Smith?

Current:

McCarthy, looks like the kind of guy who'd try and start a fight with you on a Friday night, always looks annoyed. I don't know how tall he is but i always imagine him having small man syndrome.

Plus I don't really rate him that highly as a footballer although do think his role (dedicated grinder) is an important one which he does well.
