Your Christmas Wish

This christmas I wish for a society where people who have paid taxes their whole lives, having scrimped and saved for decades don't then see their life savings robbed from their partner and family by having to spend a few months in a care home.

Surely these are just government approved means of clawing back the money common people earn for their families at the last gasp.

I'd like a society that supports old people not robs them.

Apart from the obvious: world peace, the rs getting relegated, everton successfully defending a set piece, etc. What would be your Christmas wish?

The standard of most care homes near me are appalling. A close member of my family has worked in several for more than 20 years and I wouldn’t wish an extended stay there on my worst enemy.

The care / healthcare system across the country has been disgusting for years. Totally agree with the points made.

To that end, my Christmas wish is for the good health of my family in 2020 and to all on GOT.

£1100 a week starting price, near my mum.

Geesh for that she could hire 3 carers on what I presume will be minimum wage herself for 1 on 1 24 hour individual attention, not share these with 12 others and get about 10 minutes a day. It is sheer profiteering.

Tbh I'll trade world peace for a 61,878 seater stadium to be unveiled in the planning application tomorrow.

I better get my morally bankrupt ass out of this thread pronto before I'm burned as a heretic...

Social care is the Cinderella service to the NHS. People lose sight that by not properly funding social care you add extra pressure to the NHS. Politically it is arguably easier to underfund social care because people get more outraged about the NHS. Which obviously still has its problems.

Folk get properly angry about the prospect of paying more tax or ni. I'd be happy paying more NI if we had a new form of 'social contract' based on that money going to pay for care if and when needed in later life.

A streaming service that lets you watch films as they come out in the pictures – let me pay a tenner to watch it at home rather than forcing a trip to the Liverpool One Odeon.

Yes, this is very very boring.
Anything that means i dont have to have a film ruined by the smell of socks and the smell and sound of the public eating their own body mass of popcorn from a bin. Bring it on.

I'd be happy to pay more tax for actual service.

What we actually get is stealth tax and cutbacks.
