For me, based on the OP. Duncan Ferguson walks in as CF. Hotshot Hamish one week, Mr. 50p Head the next.striker definitely gives the biggest selection headache for this, as nearly all of our recent strikers fall in this category (beattie, aj, saha, vaughan, yakubu).
it was pretty difficult to select a cb that fits the bill though, I guess that points to the general consistency of our defenders
Paul Gerrard
neil macdonald, Earl Barrett, Slaven Bilic, Alessandro Pistone
Simon Davies, Alex Nayarko, Stephen Hughes, Idan Tal
Maurice Johnston, Daniel Amokachi
I wont have anything bad said about Earl Barrett. He is still the best right back we have had for decades
I hated Earl Barrett when I was a lad. I only had a season ticket for one year, and it was the year that useless bag of ****e played every game. If he ever found a blue shirt with a pass I must have missed it.I wont have anything bad said about Earl Barrett. He is still the best right back we have had for decades

He didn't even go on Stars in their Eyes as Marvin Gaye either, that was just a Wikipedia spoof.
I swear we had another half decent right back at the time as well, but whoever it was couldn't get a look in past Barrett (I'm sure it was someone better than Matt Jackson, but maybe it was him). Didn't Barrett get a few England caps before he signed for us? What happened to him?I thought he was a massive let down, I was chuffed when we signed him.
