Reuben Noble Lazarus? Barnsley legend.

Corrrrrrect.

I can't post a link due to my post count (cheers Dan), but type "youngest professional footballer" into Google and it's the second link, an article in the Guardian.

I thought this, but I'm being told;

OK. put you out of your misery. Cameron Buchanan played for Wolves in 1942 aged 14yrs and 57 days.
And a Google search does suggest theres something in this Cameron Buchanan claim.

He played during World War 2 which sort of invalidates his claim as the youngest professional footballer given the state of the game and the absentees during that period. In fact, even Wolves fan sites list Jimmy Mullen as their youngest ever player.

Which leaves Reuben as the youngest "validated" professional footballer in English professional football.

EDIT: The official league stopped in 1939 and resumed in 1946.
