You can run but you can't hide.

This picture was taken with a camera 70,000 x 30,000 pixels (2100 MegaPixels).
It can identify a face in a multitude.

The cameras are not sold to the public and are being installed in strategic locations. (This one is in Canada)

Place the cursor in the multitude of people and double click. It will continue to show the people closer. Double click as many times as you want. Amazing!!

There were thousands of people and yet one can spot and recognize any face.

Imagine what this means…both police and army have it.

Does this mean we will now be able to know how many people were at Knebworth to see Led Zep at last?

Been worrying me for ages.

We needed one of these taking a pic of the Gwladys when Jelavic scored the winner against Spurs!

As a law adiding, to some degree, citizen, I personally have no issue with things like this.

Nor do I, especially at matches when idiots kick off but there is more than element of big brother about it which is disconcerting

Things like the speed in which the Boston Bombers were caught, thats the benefit of it all, I personally cant see a downside myself, if you do bad things you will get caught.

Thats the nub though; who decides what is "bad"? Bombing is an easy "bad", but what if, for the sake of arguement, it was deemed by the powers that be that being a supporter of the EDL, or the SNP, or Socialist Worker was "bad". In other words, any group the state disagreed with.

Dont trust the state me.

This! crowd control is one thing but political control is another, thin end of the wedge when politicos check your internet postings and emails but to be able to check where you actually go is a step too far

That and the disgusting almost martial-law Boston was under during the pursuit.

Very well put. Amazing pic though

There are a few anomalies though.

Break on through to the other side.

If it is now available to the public it has been in the hands of the authorities for years if not decades. They were upping the tech when this things was still going (Lockheed SR-71)

But when the tech had got so good, they finished the plane and stuck a multi trillion dollar system into orbit permanently. Much better than this type of thing

Because once the former wealthiest country in the world was actively tracking all the temporary missile bases in the former soviet union as well as keeping an eye on the silo's they knew of and then those they suspected.
Nikrace from something as ordinary as Google.

It is not A picture taken with A camera that is super powerful. If you read the text at the top in the link it quite clearly states that it is an image made up of 216 separate photographs stitched together to form one image. They were not taken at the same time so don't even represent an accurate "snapshot" of the scene. In other words this is not a photograph taken by some super spy camera but some interesting digital image manipulation.
