Player Valuation: £20m
David Moyes has rubbished the latest batch of transfer rumours.

Recent speculation in the press has seen the Toffees linked with players such as Middlesbrough's Stewart Downing and Reading's Stephen Hunt.

But Moyes rejected those claims, instead calling for the media to take more responsibility for the 'stories' they print.

Moyes told evertonfc.com: "All the names that have been mentioned are a load of rubbish.

"I think it's time the editors of the national newspapers started asking their journalists where they are getting their stories from."

With transfer rumours the big talking point ahead of the January transfer windon, the Goodison chief reckons it is time for papers to cut out what he calls 'mistakes'.

"There is nothing from here about any of those players," he continued.

"That's not to say we don't think any of those players are very good players, but I think they have to start taking responsibility for some of the stories that are being written.

"I don't think I would get away with making as many mistakes as the journalists do.

"Whatever players you were going to mention to me are wrong," he concluded in his pre-Manchester United press-conference.

He's just said what we'v all been saying on GOT for the past couple of days.

Journalists are shiite. They pull most of their storys out of their arses. If i was half as lazy as most of them tw@ts at work......id be sacked no question.

Moyes is just playing the game, same as the journalists. They know they would be sacked if they weren't pulling the stories out of their arses...

Blame should be fairly apportioned: not only to the journalists that collaborated in their own prostitution, but also to the proprietors and managements that demand entertainment rather than news, the businesses that co-operate in the theatre (TV money, anyone?) and those who are consumers of the infotainment media.

Although they would have been pretty good signing for us, but can't believe anything until it's been announce on OS saying they have been sign!

I guess the more game we win the more of these news would come, watch what happen after we beat Man U this weekend, it's going to get worst!

To be fair I think this only comes from certain sections of the media. The Telegraph has very few transfer rumours in it.

the guardian has a rumour mill feature online. It covers all the transfer stories, but treats them with utter disdain.

bit right wing for me bruce. I prefer my broadsheet (or berliner sized) paper to be tree hugging in a champagne socialist stylie.

Yeah it can be. I regard myself as libertarian so don't mind the free market stuff they write about, but tend to gloss over the social things. Plus they give Gordon Brown a bashing on a regular basis which pleases the punch and judy in me. A good sports section though, although Brian Moore can be a pompous nobber a bit too often for my tastes and they ignore rugby league whenever possible, but then all Fleet Street papers do that.

I like the telegraphs online footy coverage. You can see how many passes were on the money, and who arteta passed to etc.

it's maybe a little over the top, but I'm liking it.

I've read some frankly, bordering on fascist editorials in there, so rarely buy it myself.
