How do people rate this feller?

Lack of pace, cant head a ball. Brilliant combination for a CB.

Brands had a WC rush of blood to the head and wasted good money on a bang average defender who should be plying his trade at Norwich or somewhere.

Oh dear...so much wrong with this post.

Its almost as bad as @Keiran saying Barca signed him 6 months earlier than him leaving lol

It's true.

Barcelona signed him in January, made his debut in February and he was out the door by August!

He made 4 sub appearances and 1 start and was being touted out by the summer! Fair play to them, they immediately recognised he wasn't good enough.

We signed him off the back of 4 semi-decent games at the World Cup against Japan, Poland, Senegal and England and the fact he played for Barca ("so he must be good").

1: Barca had an option to buy 2 years before (approx)

2: This was executed 12 months before he set foot in Spain at the pre agreed fee (which is why it was considered so cheap)

= No they didnt sign him in Jan. He was purchased 1 year prior.

3: We had been contacted about his availability before the world cup. I find it peculiar that youre peddling him being watched in a tournament only when this is blatently untrue. Brands even confirmed that we were after him before the competition.

= At the very least youre saying Brands lied (for no reason) and that no one had seen a well known player in South American football...which is weird in itself as we have south american scouts

No faith in him. He just never looks comfortable. Better than Keane but that's nothing to shout about.

We have no CB of repute. Amazing given how much cash has been spent.

It transforms the team and makes up for failings in other positions if you've got decent centre halves. Amount of times under Moyes we'd grind a terrible 1-0 win out because we could defend.

Under a manager / coaching staff worth their salt I think he can be a good CB.

He's the type who needs a leader alongside him - that has to be the priority a CB with pace who is good at organising the back line.

An 'option' to buy. Not an 'obligation' to buy. Important to note the difference, mate.

He categorically was not purchased 1 or 2 years prior, he signed his contract for Barcelona in January 2018. He made his debut in February 2018. He was out the door by August 2018.

Well of course Brands is going to say that we've been watching him for ages, he's hardly going to admit that we're signing him off the strength of a world cup and the fact he plays for Barcelona, is he?

At best, if what you say is true, we extensively scouted a player for years and he turned out to be absolute horse-pish. At worst, we took a gamble on a player based on 4 games and took another Barcelona cast-off in the hope it would pay off, it hasn't.

I think there’s potential for him to become a very good Premier League defender.

Last year was a write off, one of the the few positives we’ve had this year is the consistent run of games he’s been able to play. Obviously all players will look better when they’re in a significantly improved environment. However I feel if we can have a manager who introduces the correct tactics and give him a CB partnership with someone who allows him to play as a right-sided CB, is physically quick and a good vocal leader we would really see Mina shine.

2017 it was already signed with Palmeiras that Mina will join Barca in summer 2018. Fee agreed and the deal done at €10mil.

Signed sealed but not yet delivered.

December 2017 Barca renegotiated with Palmeiras to receive the player in Jan 2018 for a small increase of the payment.

At that time Palmeiras were also offered €25mil by Borussia Dortmund and explained to them that Mina's transfer was already approved.

The only thing missing was Minas signature but everyone on the globe knew when Dortmunds offer was knocked back that Mina had already agreed the transfer at the time of the signing between Palmeiras and Barca.

Cleatly Palmeiras didnt accept an option to buy for free...it was a deal.

Thats the reality.

Another reality is that youre making up stories about us signing Yerry Mina without watching him in a match outside of the world cup.

Clearly thats nonsense...just admit it and move on.

The dream would be to sign Davinson Sanchez from Spurs...we were after him under Koeman and he looked amazing at Ajax then Spurs got him.

Get him in and Hamez and we'll look a different side.
