Ridiculous that a player can't be involved in advertising a betting company but a club can.

Either the sport should allow it or it shouldn't. They have a very two-faced view at the moment.

Great news. The rules are an absolute joke and it sums up the league, but the rules are there and he could’ve been banned for a few games.

Fine him for being a "advertiser" for a betting company but like 5-7 teams wear it on the shirt week in and week out.... perfect sense.

Well it's clear the problem isn't that it is wrong to advertise betting for some moral reason, but to direct revenue away from the officially sanctioned betting companies.

Anyway, back to the football, just gonna catch up on the Skybet Championship news

A relief.

But it is ironic that this rule exists when all of football is plastered with betting ads and companies making billions of Pounds profit...and Here's Gerald doing a bit and purtin it into his charity.
For me the FA is totally hypocritical. Almost half of the premier league has a betting company as main sponsors.

The Football Association has today published the following statement on Everton's Yerry Mina in relation to his participation in a broadcast advertisement for a Colombian betting company:

Yerry Mina has been warned as to his future conduct and fined £10,000 after admitting a misconduct charge in relation to The FA’s Betting Rules.
The Everton FC defender breached FA Rule E8(3) by participating in an advertisement for betting activity which he is prohibited from engaging in.

The Football Association Regulatory Commission has published its written reasons for its decision, which included:
  • Confirmation that Mina donated all monies paid by the betting company to the Yerry Mina Foundation – a charitable organisation set up by the defender in 2016 to help disadvantaged young people from his hometown in Colombia.
  • Mina had admitted the charge at the earliest opportunity and had apologised for his mistake.
  • Mina had requested the advert be removed as soon as he was informed he was in breach of the Football Association’s betting rules.

So he did a TV ad for a betting company in his home country. Then donates the money to charity.

Still gets fined

Unbelievable
