I doubt that the evidence is purely coming from the fact that someone's written in marker "number one".... which obviously is some sort of inventory number during assembly.....

More the design and metallurgy of the torpedo fragments.

Metallurgy will tell them where the material was manufactured, even where the alloy originated from.

The actual ID of this torpedo being the one that sunk the ship came from analysis of the explosive residues.
