As much as I like Donovan and would love to see him here in the winter, I think he's going to be pretty tired by then (unless he's knocked out early in the playoffs). He's never played this much footie before and seems to be running on fumes right now as it is.
They'll rest him Rook before the playoffs, so he will get rest. Bruce Arena will see to that - he doesn't want his best player on fumes either (which I agree with you, he is on right now). Honestly, I think the Galaxy would have rested him sooner had they not slid into this tailspin they are in. The could almost lose their entire rest of season and still make it into the playoffs, so he'll get his time (especially if Adu comes in) - just a question of when. The competitor he is, he won't want to rest until the team gets their *hit together.
Looking at the Galaxy's schedule he'll most likely rest against DC United (bottom of the league), and may get a two week rest through Chivas and Union in October - once the Galaxy have most likely clinched.
