A few top clubs have been linked to him in the recent past so maybe there is a clue there. If Koeman and Walsh think he is worth it then so be it and who are we to question there expertise or lack of it.
You can never tell, but for £35m for a 26 year old I would want a much more proven international. You get the feeling that just because we've got money they are spending it, rather than seeking any value.

I don't think the sky money helps. Everyone knows we have it and as a result, prices have soared.

Underwhelmed at spending £35m on a player who came from the French League for £5m 2 years ago and has then been moderate in a poor league.
Did you believe that Gueye was great value at 7m ?

Every signing is a risk , the player is obviously very talented and brings something different to the squad.
He is a player that may frustrate and excite in equal measures, but, if the manager and the DoF are happy to spend the money I would be interested to hear genuine reasons why we should not.

We need goals, we need a striker. We have Bolassie, Mirallas and Deolofeu who all do the same as this guy. I know modern football is about having forward players who can interchange but we are currently relying on 1 striker who hasn't scored since March and Arouna Kone!!

Slightly cynical overview; but he was worth far more than the £5m porto paid for him at the time (imo). The trick was for martinez to have signed him back then, for that (In today's market) meagre sum, instead of porto. We missed the boat last time.

£35m's far too high for most players, but if bolasie commanded north of £25m, then given that scale (Regardless of how ridiculous it's become) it'd be about right (Again, imo).

Still too much money.

this thread is getting a bit financial for my liking

For 35m you really would be expecting a world beater, right?

I don't know anything about him, but if he's an attacking midfielder you'd be expecting 15 goals and 15 assists a season at a bare minimum. I'm looking at Mkhitarian last season and his stats were unreal, and he cost less than 35m.

But Porto always get the most out of their business. It's unreal how much money they make on players.
