Player Valuation: £60m
Someone gave me three games, and I already had an xbox360, so I bought a Kinect a while back.

The motion sensor stuff is pretty cool, got Motion Sports, cage fighting, some fitness game, and the one that comes with it.

Having no controller at all is pretty mad, and the Kinect itself looks like something out of Short Circuit, Johnny5's head! It's freaky when it moves round...

Anyone else got one?????

What do ya think of it?

I keep 'almost' buying one.
I have a 360 but this is one of the very first 360's and I have never really had an issue, never had the red rings, its always *touch wood* been great, was playing it tonight. However some games dont perform that great, the hardware in mine isnt as up to date or as good as the modern ones. So If I want a Kinect Im gona have to get the full package, and until more games are available I aint gona.
How does it play?

The tech is amazing.

Sadly though, the games are not. Games make platforms, not potential or innovation, in the end.

I'm by all means a 360 gamer (I must play it 5 times more often than I do my PS3), but Sony's Move is a lot more interesting, because they've backed it up with games. Killzone 3 looks fantastic and that's out soon; the early reviews say it works excellently with the Move, so I'll be buying it.

Without tangible buttons Kinect poses all sorts of problems for core games. It's okay for family stuff, but when you're a regular gamer like myself, who only cares for RPGs, shooters, action adventure games and so on, then the potential for Kinect looks about as bleak as its lineup.

The key with fancy new games consoles is to prove they're not a gimmick by having the software to back up the hardware. That's why I'm looking forward to the 3DS -- dozens of major franchises have already been announced for it.

tl;dr: Kinect has no games, the Move does and the 3DS is going to. :P

I am waiting for them to bring out a really intense violent fighting game, the one you mentioned promises a lot but is unresponsive on the kicks...you can certainly feel your core working on some of the games. EA active puts you through it and my little girl can use the bowling with ease which is fun...its an impressive piece of kit and from what I read the software is looking promising.

Bought the misses one for christmas and i got to say it has been used once, just seems like a Wii without controllers, so the kids have got it now, personally i prefer games with a controller and i also prefer the PS3, but each to there own..

The technology is great, and what I also like about is that if I get bored jumping round, I can sit down, grab the control and just play FiFA...

I have to agree with Rufus though, it seems to me like some games are more responsive than others, depending on the maker of course, it is a bit like 'minority report'...

Yeah I had a quick go of my mates and the games he had were pretty appalling.

I'll stick with Battlefield: Bad Company 2 online thanks.

(I'm still laughing at the guy playing Kinect kicking his cat. So much)

Got one for chrimbo. Really, really good fun :) oddly enough, the best game for it is Dance Central imo.

Not odd at all. That's the only game from its launch lineup to hold a positive rating on metacritic. It's by Harmonix, who do the Rock Band games, so yeah it's no surprise; they're a quality studio.

However I'm strictly a core gamer. I don't like dancing, waving, hip thrusting, singing or anything like that when I'm playing games. I want to be shooting Nazis, chainsawing zombies, levelling up my stroppy emo JRPG character, driving over pedestrians and all the other gaming clichés. Sadly Kinect offers nothing for me, yet.

So am I mate, which is why I find it odd that I actually enjoyed it :o
