WW3

Russia offered to end the war if Ukraine agreed to stay neutral, but Ukraine’s leaders were already sceptical about whether they could trust those promises. Boris Johnson did warn against making deals with Russia when he visited in April 2022, but the evidence suggests Ukraine had already made up its mind before he got involved.

Let’s be honest—Putin’s government doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to keeping its word on deals and peace talks. Ukraine had every reason to be wary, based on a broader distrust of Russia’s intentions.
Johnson knows all about making deals with Russia.

That’s all just noise until they all get around a table, now or later
The Ukrainian situation is similar to the Gazan situation in that they're both bullying tactics used to steal, land from the Palestinians minerals and resources from Ukraine.
Putin needs to 'save face' and will accept 'land/territory' for the greater Russian cause, leaving the western manufacturer vultures with what they wanted.
If we're honest it's all just late stage capitalism running amok. Deals are agreed, means are supplied/manufactured (justification) and controlled at a whim (like the markets at present) and all acted out by egos and bellends.
You will never hear the names of those actually pulling the strings but they certainly won't be Trump, Putin, Musk or Zelensky.

Yes
And that’s why they need the ALL the other leaders to set out exactly what happens if there’s a breach.

to change the constitution you have to get 2 thirds of the senate. That isn’t happening. He will lose the house in November 26 and the senate will become much closer. There’s not a chance he can change the constitution the “normal” way. If he overrides that then it’ll lead to civil war. One way or the other we’re done with the rapist in a few years.
And there was me thinking there is going to be some sort of manufactured ‘incident’ that would give Trump an opportunity to declare martial law and suspend all elections…

It’s all kicking off now

Western Australian premier Roger Cook apologises after calling US vice-president JD Vance a ‘knob’

That could be interesting. The US needs all the partners it can get in that neck of the woods for the inevitable Taiwan broohaha.

Wonder if Australia fancies taking the US for all it's worth to maintain the current situation and access.

….i just wonder how on earth a whole nation voted these idiots in.
Because it was the only alternative they could see after the failure of the left to start governing and tax levels of wealth that are totally out of balance. Governments are broke, ordinary people have little, many have nothing. Money does not dissapear. It is sitting in the hands of people with far more than anybody could actually EARN.
The interest you and governments pay all goes back to the rich and it needs correcting.
Governments have the power but do not have the balls. Young people in particular will really struggle to have their own home. Economic distribution is disgusting.
Blue collar America has been sold a lie but the alternative also hung them out to dry. If nobody sold them the truth and was prepared to really act for them, what do you expect? See Farage here...

I hope he's apologising for the lack of severity of his language, because a knob is too positive and kind for the balloon headed umpa lumpa.

They have every right to be sceptical. Where are the assurances from the 1994 Budapest nuclear settlement now? Look at Russia and the US right now.

The annexation of Crimea showed it for what its worth, then the invasion and now the US turning their back on Ukraine. Putin and his deals lack any moral fibre.

…I think it was more about the Democrats not smoothly transitioning to a new leader.

Russia was ready to end the war and withdraw its troops in exchange for Ukrainian neutrality just a few months after the invasion began and was refused partly because of ex-British PM Boris Johnson, who pressured Kyiv into continuing the fight, David Arahamiya, the leader of Ukraine’s ruling party confirmed in a recent interview, published on Friday, November 24th.

The lawmaker is not only leading the parliamentary faction of Zelensky’s Servant of the People party but was also appointed as the head of the Ukrainian delegation during the initial, tentative peace talks in March and April, hosted by Turkey.

They [Russia] were ready to end the war if we took neutrality—as Finland once did—and made commitments that we would not join NATO. This was the key point.

So we’ve just had 2 examples of potential peace talks that weren’t 3 months ago?

Excellent.
