A week to go, so here we go. Business is about to pick up. The Showcase of the Immortals is upon us once more. Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Wrestlemania 29.

As opposed to last year, which I was well up for i've been down on this years event as the build up has been somewhat hasty, a little miss mashed, and has all felt a little rushed. To me at least. But that's the beauty of pro wrestling. Every single fan has an opinion, and it very rarely is the same as his mates'.

Fact is, this is the big one. It's Wrestlemania. Of course it will be awesome.

The fact i'm not sold on it means I can only be impresses does'nt it? It does. Probably.

So let's have a look at the matches

Tons of Fun & The Funkadactyls Vs. Team Rhodes Scholars & The Bella Twins
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Who on earth? I mean what the? As if anyone....
Well it's in apparently, hopefully will get put to a pre match show on YouTube because I mean really. This isn't a Wrestlemania match is it?
Hey, remember when Albert came back as Tensai and nobody cared? Well now he dances a bit. And nobody cares. I do however, think Damian Sandow is awesome. Hopefully he'll get pushed in the right direction on the coming year. And Cody's tasche...my word.
Having said all that, I love the Funkadactyls and the Bella Twins.
As for the winner, well this could actually signal which way the entire event goes. If the good guys win, i'd fear for the whole event. We shall see.
Smithy picks: Team Rhodes Scholars & The Bella Twins

Chris Jericho Vs. Fandango
------------------------------
You know I was talking earlier about the rushed matches. Well here's one now.
It seems the only storyline linked reason for this evening happening is because Jericho was in Dancing With The Stars and Fandango's gimmick is a dancer. It is however, Fandango's first proper match, and fron what I know of Johnny Curtis he's actually really good. Jericho as we know is a legend of all legends. Without doubt a future Hall of Famer. But what of this match. Why does it matter? What happens to the loser after the match? In fact, what happens to the winner after match? I'll let you guys answer those questions.
Smithy picks: Fandango

WWE Tag Team Title Match
Team Hell No (C) Vs. Dolph Ziggler & Big E. Langston
--------------------------------------------------------
AJ will be there too. Ah AJ, you psychotic little minx.
This is an interesting match, but probably for the wrong reasons. Everyone I know, who follows wrestling, wants Ziggler to cash in at mania. He's had it for so long. He has to doesn't he? Surely. On who? Not decided.
The outcome of this match may have a deciding factor on if Ziggler does cash in or not. Plus it will be good to see Langston in a match. He has a tiny head and huge body. Remember at the end of Beetlejuice? Yeah him. Gotta go with Team Hell No here. Which may lead to Ziggler cashing in later. Fingers crossed.
Smithy picks: Team Hell No

Ryback Vs. Mark Henry
-------------------------
Somebody's gonna get their ass kicked, or fed more, or something.
I've actually quite enjoyed the build up to this. Yes, it's just two bloody huge guys, and yes the match will be slow as hell. But there's something old school about it, and that's met well in my mind. Again the problem being does the match really lead onto anything afterwards? Doubt it.
Smithy picks: hmmm tough one.....Ryback

Intercontinental Title Match
Wade Barret (C) Vs. The Miz
---------------------------------
Wade Barret came out today saying he prefers Everton to Liverpool. For that reason this will be biased. Barrett is ace. WWE use him terribly, but he is awesome. This battle with The Miz has actually been going a while, and Barrett hasn't really had the better of it. You get the feeling WWE are trying to make a modern day Ric Flair (wooooo) out of The Miz, which isn't the worst idea.
Weird how many former champs have fallen from grace in the last year. The Miz headlined a few years back which feels weird to say now.
Despite my Barrett bias, i'm going....
Smithy picks: The Miz

Randy Orton, Sheamus and The Big Show Vs. The Shield
----------------------------------------------------------------
Please god let The Shield win this. OR, and I repeat a big OR, let the Shield fall apart in this match so we can see them all as single competitors after mania. One or the other.
I've enjoyed The Shield story line. It's petered off a little, but I enjoy their promos a lot. Ambrose particularly will go onto big big things. He's got that weird look. The other two, probably not.
As for the other 3. *sigh. Seen it all before. Orton needs a push. I know i'm one of a few on here who actually like him, but him as a heel is beyond awesome. The other 2, who cares really?
Smithy picks: The Shield (or potentially not a proper finish)

World Heavyweight Championship
Alberto Del Rio (C) Vs. Jack Swagger
------------------------------------------
Stay with me here. But this could steal the show.
Depsite being surprised at Swagger returning, and getting away with being caught off his head on all sorts, his new character is pretty awesome. I love it when WWE go all controversial, and Swagger is a massive racist. Hates immigrants and the like. Del Rio, is an immigrant. Instant needle. Boss. Both very good wrestlers, this has so much potential.
Obvious shennanigans will happen with their respective buddies, but which way it will go is tough to choose. You'd think Swagger has to win, or what was the point in the whole build up and return?
Smithy picks: Jack Swagger (possible Ziggler cash in and win)

Triple H Vs. Brock Lesnar - No Holds Barred
If Lesnar win, Triple H has to retire
-------------------------------------------------
You've got to love 'Career on the line' matches. As if Triple H will retire. He basically runs the company for crying out loud.
Anyway, that was me breaking the fourth wall.
This is a big match for mania. And part of me feels it has a Goldberg Lesnar feel to it. I just don't trust Lesnar. He might mess this up by either going too far, or just doing it wrong. We will see. Interesting that the match that follows involves Heyman's other client. I am a Paul Heyman guy, he is ace. And very important for WWE. There aren't too many characters of note in WWE anymore and he is both old school and new at the same time.
Triple H will win this of course, he won't let himself lose 3 years in a row at mania. No way.
Smithy picks: Triple H with the Sledgehammer

The Undertaker Vs. CM Punk
--------------------------------
Hmmmmmm, could it be? It couldn't could it? Surely not? Or will it? Will the streak be broken?
If we are all honest, you'd have to say no really. If HHH or HBK couldn't get it done then you'd have to say Punk doesn't have a chance.
I'm sure there will be a couple of close calls. Lots and lots of 2 counts, but Taker will win. I'm seriously considering putting actual big money on it. That's how certain I am. The sad passing of Paul Bearer only cements Taker's win here.
On the flip side, just how many manias does Taker have left? This could be his last.
Smithys picks: The Undertaker

WWE Championship
The Rock (C) Vs. John Cena
-------------------------------
*sigh - John Cena is going to win. And it's not even hidden very well. Does this annoy me? Well as a lifetime fan of The Rock yes it does.
But is it better for the WWE? Probably. Sadly. They are almost certainly going to make this a trilogy of matches, and that's alright by me (as long as Cena loses of course!).
The build up has been OK. Not a patch on last year, but they had a whole stupid year for that, but the needle between the two is still there. I still beleive they hate each other in real life and that helps the build up no end. Cena has looked pretty pathetic in the promos, whining a lot about his loss last year and Rock has picked up on it. But still, it makes little sense, despite my bias, for Rock to win. Unless, unless, the unthinkable happens, and Cena turns heel. But I think we all know that ain't happening.
Smithy (begrudgingly) picks: John Cena

So there we have it. There might be a Women's title match added this week between AJ and Kaitlyn, but we all know that match would be used for a toilet break.

So pick your winners and reply to the post. Winner takes loads of thumbs up.

The Rock (c) vs. John Cena
Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. Jack Swagger
The Undertaker vs. CM Punk
Sheamus, Randy Orton & Big Show vs. The Shield
Ryback vs. Mark Henry
Team Hell No (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston
Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H
Chris Jericho vs. Fandango
Wade Barrett (c) vs. The Miz
Tons of Funk and The Funkadactyls vs. Team Rhodes Scholars and The Bella Twins

And to finish. How about a classic Wrestlemania match from yesteryear. Go on then....

cena to win by turning heel on the rock kicking him in the people's bollocks and and knocking him out with brass bloodying him bad. Then after the win cuts a promo on the rock for booing him for the past ten years. Lesnar to beat triple h with Stephanie turning heel on triple h and making out with Paul Heyman.
On a side note wouldn't it be cool if ken wright and earl could get the rock at Goodison to promote gi joe like sylvester stallone. People champ at the people's club.

I think the Fandango/Jericho match is based on Jericho being on Dancing with the Stars in the US.

Jericho to win to bury that horrible, horrible gimmick that Curtis has.

I definitely said that in the bit.

And I hope you're right mate.

Ahh sorry, just read "rushed match" and assumed!

Oh, and I don't care about the event enough to make predictions. Terrible card, awful build up, could be the worst Wrestlemania of all time.

Ijjy what's the deal with it being PG rather than Attitude these days?

Can they still have no holds barred, TLCs etc?

It's for the kids man. Sadly.

They still have No Holds Barred and TLC etc... But any blood is frowned upon and in fact I've seen matches stopped to clean the blood up. Lame.

I would however expect to see blood in HHH vs Lesnar.

Not cool that. The best match I remember at Wrestlemania was The Hardys vs Edge and Christian vs The Dudley Boys where Edge jumped off the ladder and speared (Jeff?) Hardy. BOSS.

Be interesting to see what Lesnar's like, might watch that. Is his style/gimmick whatever the same? Triple H is obviously still a beast I imagine.
