Would you pay £24m for Lukaku?

What is the maximum you'd pay for Rom?

His season started in September then he missed a month in Jan/Feb, had he been here earlier and not got injured, he'd have slotted 20+ easily.

For me lukaku would be worth every penny of 24 mill. Age on his side. He will get even better. Already a lot of prem experience and goals to his name. We would certainly not be paying over the odds like 2 teams have already done giving soton 56 mill for 2 half decent players. And if we did sign him for 24 mill who is to say we will pay the lot up front.
What if he gets worse?

All I can say is that if we sign Lukaku fora reasonable sensible price. Which looks north of £18m which is a very very good price given his age, and form. Sign Ross to a boss contract, we have an incredible team.

all we need is some magical loans and some dodgy pens and the league is ours.

Anichebe , Kone, Long and Jelavic all went for around ~6m. Sturridge and Adam Johnson went for ~ 11m

With those figures in mind I'd say Lukaku was probably worth in the 18-20m range as he's more talented than the first bunch and has a better goal record than the latter two when they were brought.

Our other options with league experience are Remy (don't want due to attitude & off field problems) and Bony who is probably ~20m+ and will be going to AFCON at a crucial point in our season.

Otherwise we are gambling on bringing a foreign striker in but as Soldado & Negredo have shown, even when you spend 20-25m it doesn't mean the player will settle well.

So I'd probably overpay for Lukaku given he's already worked well in our team but 24m would be the max.

This guy is worth every penny. The difference between 5th and 4th.

Why spread it over average squad players that may or may not improve? This guy is the real deal.

I know it is only a little thing, but the fact he still shows his team as Everton on twitter gives me hope we will get him. He updates often and has been asked by Chelsea fans to change it. Combined with Martinez 'saving funds' in January and even Rom name dropping us in an interview about his future this weekend, it all looks positive. Of course things can change overnight in football, but all the evidence would point to him returning. He makes financial sense too due to his age and non african nations disruptions that similar players linked would have against them.
