Exactly. I also fumed massively and at the time and it was mostly Cork people and Utd supporters backing him. In time I accepted that he had a point, but chose the wrong time to make it. But we've all moved on from that now. Keane remains one of the greatest ever players to wear the Ireland shirt, even if he was (and still is) a bit mental.

I would of loved to have him at Everton that time we were linked with him, would of been boss for us

I think the fact that the Irish national team were a worse side than the Manchester United side that Keane was playing in at the time could explain what some concieve as being poor performances from him. At united he was surrounded by world class players who were on the same level as him, sadly for the Irish team half of the players were nowhere near his level or the level of player he was used to playing with... that is bound to affect your game when you don't really have the same confidence in the ability of the players around you.
