Off to spurs isnt he?

I'm not sure it's finalised and I imagine his price would have gone up substantially after last nights display.

In all honesty I wouldn't expect us to swoop in. It's a mistake to buy off the back of one game and we made a similar "mistake" re Besic who I'm not sure has ever really produced his world cup form here.

However he played very well last night, he can tackle, pass and control the tempo of the game. He showed he had a good temperament for it too.

What the world cup shows me, is there are lots of players out there but you need to be first to make the move. Mina and Akanje look a very formidable pair of Centre Backs who have moved tis year for just over 30 million pounds. They would form a very formidable duo at the heart of our defence and suit the system perfectly. Neither were massively on the radar of clubs and I didn't know a lot about them, so hopefully we will see signings akin to that under Brands.

I also thought number 16, Lerma who plays for Levante did well last night.

MIna has signed for Barcelona mate, but they may have an issue with the number of none EU players and need to loan him out. I'd love us to get him even on loan. Looks a machine.
Think we need to maybe pump the brakes a bit on this kid. Big, strong, great in the air, but he's not the quickest and I'm not quite sure he's the passer some believe. Still young, like to have him, but if he was so fantastic, I think he'd beat out Thomas Vermaelen.

I also not sure he's an exact fit with Silva. Silva wants his center backs to be able to pass and move. They have to be quick and able to defend into space with his midfielders rushing up the pitch the way they do. Not sure Mina is the perfect player for that. Still love to have him, but he's still a bit rough around the edges.

Well it does since you said Lookman was pretty much at his level which he really isn’t. Lookman has played about 3 top flight games.
He’s played 11 PL games and 11 Bundesliga games. You can look this stuff up, you know.

Not that tenure has anything to do with aptitude.

I'll be honest mate, I have only seen him in one game. The fact he can't get into Barcelona's team is certainly a worry, but there are lots of players who aren't good enough to get into their team who could easily improve ours. I'd also say, sometimes it just doesn't work out at a club for a player. Sometimes a club and it's expectations are just too big, especially moving mid season as he did.

Buying off a World Cup is dangerous and I wouldn't recommend it, but the point of the thread is to identify lads who look good at the world cup so it is hard not to throw names in there! I hope we were looking at him before he performed against England as judging people on one game is extremely dangerous.

The only thing I disagree with you on is the viability for Silva's system. I think he would be perfect for this. He seems to want quick, strong & mobile centre backs and he ticks all of them boxes. I also think he's quite good on the ball. I thought he was the best player on the pitch against England and bossed Harry Kane and would be very pleased to see him come.
