Question: What Is the World's Most Venomous Insect?
The most venomous insect isn't some rare, exotic rain forest creature. You may have them in your own yard. Can you name guess what it is?
Answer: The world's most venomous insect is an ant. Not the ant in the photo... those are fire ants, which are poisonous, but don't get the award for 'most venomous insect'. That prize goes to the harvester ant (Pogonomyrmex maricopa). The LD50 for harvester ant venom (in rodents) is 0.12 mg/kg. Compare that to a LD50 of 2.8 mg/kg for a honey bee (Apis mellifera) sting. Now... that's interesting, but the part I liked was that the researchers say that is "equivalent to 12 stings killing a 2 kg (4.4 lb) rat" (University of Florida Book of Insect Records). You have to wonder about that. Did they run out of lab animals and use some wharf rat in the research? Why not just say it takes about 3 stings to kill a one pound rat?

Google is great isnt it?

Common sense dictates that the States won't be taking the cup home from Johannesburg next summer, I realize that, got to the quarter finals in Japan and Korea, good showing, but there is next to no chance of overcoming Argentina, Germany, Brazil etc in the latter stages, there is the chance of England maybe doing well, they are about third favorites which I think is a misleading lookout, they're hardly the finished article, but what I think we'll do is just let the games get underway and I think we'll just let everything fall as it may.

I fancy Germany to be outright winners, you never discount or underestimate them.

They have some great forwards and some really flair players.

I would have agreed with this statement before the Confederations Cup last summer but we gave Brazil one hell of a game after beating Spain.

While I'd say that our chances are slim, I wouldn't say "no chance."

Anything can happen in 90 minutes and we've seen that with the USMNT before.

Can't wait for the World Cup. While I do think we (England) have got a decent draw in the group stages, I for one am certainly not predicting we will waltz through it. England tend to struggle against the so called lesser nations anyway, especially teams who set their stall out to defend. We've struggled to break down Andorra a few times who are widely regarded as one of the weakest teams in world football so I'm expecting three tough games in the group stages. I don't like all this plotting our route to the final crap that people do, we should take each game as it comes and respect all opponents equally. Everyone is a threat.

This. To underestimate your opposition is asking for trouble in this competition there is no such thing as a lesser nation as they all qualified to get there
