I'm still at a loss of what Bridge does well, he seems average in every way. Baines and Warnock seem like they are better players. Baines also seems a better fit and give england some width b/c Gerrard now with the captain's armband is going to roam out of position even more.

Hope the US can get into Round 2 as well. Sucks that we've been hit with so many injuries. I'd say our chances are a little better than 50/50. Wish we were playing England in game 3.

In the World Cup, despite bravado, most fans will get behind the team.
It's the one tournament that seems to bring fans together regarding rivalries, so I don't get the ' support club, not country ' claims of some.

One problem we do have though is this 'Championsleaguegate' scandal, that seems to have an agenda against English teams in the competition regarding some very dodgy refereeing decisions.

I just hope all teams are treated fairly, and all teams play at their best.

Despite his little episode with a grandma, I hope Rooney ends up with the armband, as he has the passion to lead by example.

I'm still not entirely sure that Bridge won't end up at the World Cup. I reckon he might change his mind and it is just to get people to hate Terry even more. However, there is still a strong possibility that he won't be going, and after impressing against Egypt I think Baines is a shoe in bar injury or dramatic dip in form. Terry will definitely partner Ferdinand I think, however I have a feeling Capello will favor Upson, Lescott and Brown over Jagielka.

This is the Pampered generations last chance to prove they can perform on the World Stage.

England really have to give it a go this year and not get caught up in their own hype. Maybe practice some penalties for a change.

Anything beyond the group stage is a plus for the Aussies. I'd put some money on them shaking a few trees and then getting dudded by some cheaters again. Cahill to bang in a couple more to further cement his place in WC lore.
