Working from Home, re-visited

I do it quite a lot, more so when the weather's nice if I'm honest because it doesn't matter when I do stuff, just so long as it gets done. On a nice Summer's day I'll quite often get up about 6, have a bite to eat, do 3 or 4 hours work and then do nothing until 7 in the evening, when I do another 3 or 4 hours.

If the forecast is for rain, then I'd probably drive into whatever office I'm working in,idly chat and gossip for half the day, and might get 4 or 5 truly productive hours work done.

That my friend, is on all time wish list, beaten only by finding out my mrs has been repressing long term bisexual urges and wants my help to explore them..... Hope you've another job sorted.

Actually worked out for the best mate, as my youngest child was born with a disability which meant one of us had to pack in work to look after him.

Almost sounds idyllic

I try to work from home 1 day a week. But that's tough. My wife has every other Friday off (so I try to take it off also at a minimum) so I've got to make sure the guys are doing there thing in the office. Been in the industry since 2003 (well technically longer) but finally said F-it and opened my own fund after cashing out at my prior company. I don't like not having access to my Bloomberg from home but that's life.

With others depending on me it's tough but I do try to make sure we have some creature comforts from home in the work area for the guys. Full TV's so we can get any of the matches during the week. Pool table and beer for after the markets close on Friday.

I used to work from home 1 or 2 days a week from 2008 to 2012, now it's not as often as I am more site based. it was ok, I probably got a similar amount of work done, it just didn't feel like I did because if you take most of the human interaction out of your day, there is a lot of time to fill.

I tend to try and work from home now the day before I go on holiday, as my boss has developed this horrible habit of trying to drown me in "work that must be completed today" the day I go on holiday. If I'm not in front of him this tends not to happen

I work from home, work hard mostly, some slack here or there but you do end up making it up evenings and weekends, overall they probably get more out of me as I can concentrate more and probably have more productive hours and I'm the only one who doesn't seem to leave early on Friday.

I work from home 2 days a week, rest of the time is spent chewing the fat with clients and travelling in car listening to Talksport.

Some days can get loads done, others like last Friday not much as I watched the golf.
