Watched the 1st ep today on iPlayer, amazing stream of eye candy and information that I had no clue about.

This is the sort of stuff kids should be learning in school.

Great series. When you see good science presented simply like this, it makes you wonder how more people aren't interested in the subject.

I know. Good to know were not going to die soon though. Thought that was as bonus, although I am intrigued to see what the sun will look like in 6 billion years. My delorian doesn't have enough space for that kind of time frame.

One of the most wonderful sights I've ever seen was when on holiday in Egypt. We (my wife and I) went to a Bedouin camp where there had been erected a radio telescope that had been, if I remember correctly, paid for by us Brits. The moon seemed so big that I said at the time I swore I could see Buzz Aldrin's golf ball! (OK, I know now it was Alan Shepard who hit the ball) but the real highlight was when I looked at Saturn - and saw the rings! :o

Really? I used to be into Astronomy as a kid, had the telescope and all, but lost interest, probably cos there was loads of trees outside my house.

Love to get into it again and look at the stars.

we may get taken out by a super nova in 300million years before that happens by a star 2500 light years away... apparently.

I'm moving to Tau Sigma XI in the year 33227AD anyway

Always meant to get a telescope. A half decent one's about £300 quid though.

The solar system really is amazing. How all the planets and stars and intricacies of the universe decided to create themselves is mindblowing. Makes you wonder whether there really is a god. It is far too staggering to comprehend that it just "happened".
