My lovely wife shares a birthday with our manager and today was it. As usual, me and the kids wrote out some nice thoughtful cards, got her some good presents, encouraged friends and family to call her up,and, as usual on her birthday, she was in a melancholic state. This runs so counter to her normal state of being that I was hoping you all could help me, especially the women of GOT. Over the years, I've tried everything (sawdust excluded) and am starting to think that may be this is just a difference between men and women.

Hmmm...I'm not going to be any help. I really don't care one way or the other about birthdays.

I'm assuming you've tried to talk to her about it?

Any thoughts ladies... @LinekersLegs @mrs the esk

See that's what I'm like too. Don't care either way and my mother was the same ( don't have any sisters).Yes, I have asked her about it. She says that she just gets gloomy on her birthday and doesn't know why.

Could just be the reality of another year older?

Or maybe she gets special birthday visits from @Bungle the monster

I've had the same thing at times, probably feeling the sands of time are flowing too fast!

Not sure if it is feasible but have you tried going away for her birthday? Even if not a holiday, just a night away, perhaps just the two of you? Or spend the day (or the nearest free day) going to see something she wants to see, a garden or a beach - just something that marks it as a day slighly different than the other 364? Sometimes time spent together can be the most valuable gift of all.

If you've already tried something similar I'm a bit stumped, sorry.

Some people hate Birthdays, me for one.

Just don't make such a big deal out of it and forget all the Chintzy crap.

Keep it real and get her something from left field. She'll apreciate the randomness.

Good Luck Pal.

Definitely this. No-one likes to be reminded that they're getting older. Chances are she's thinking about her previous birthday and thinking how recent it seemed and how time flies.
