I hate international football and all of the patriotic gammons it attracts in every country.

I separate patriotism as negative and positive. Positive being taking pride in the shared values, people and belonging of your nationality

Negative being acting superior to other countries as they’re not you, and behaving like obnoxious bells when in someone else’s country as you’re in a pack.

Will I be watching? Yes Do I want them to win? Yes Will I be actively supporting them? Probably not - as in I won't be sad if they get knocked out, I won't be ridiculously excited if they win the whole thing ( compare with reactions to Everton losing - weekend ruined, no MOTD, avoid social media, and should we ever win anything - head would completely explode). So I'm not sure I count as a supporter, more of an interested bystander.
I've got Italy in the sweep so might be slightly more invested in them.

This is an interesting observation good sir. I've heard say the two are symbiotic and intractable.

I'm not sure about said argument myself. I'd like people to post good examples of nationalist behaviour to disprove the theory.

I can’t help but feel there are some on this forum waiting excitedly for England to suffer in this tournament and I can’t work that out so I’d like to invite these people to come and share why they feel this way in this, the safest of spaces to express feelings.
