According to the Daily Mail's Charles Sale, Everton Football Club have signed a new UK£1.7 million (US$2.6 million) deal with secondary ticketing company StubHub.
The deal is yet to be officially confirmed by either Everton or StubHub, however, when announced the partnerships will be the American company's first signing in England’s Premier League.
Terms of Everton's latest agreement with StubHub will follow those of a similar deal done by Premier League rivals Aston Villa with rival ticketing company Viagogo. Sale also reports that Viagogo is also in the process of tying up further agreements with Fulham and Newcastle. StubHub launched its UK operations in December 2011, a move that was complemented in April 2012 through a partnership with USA Basketball concerning the governing body's upcoming exhibition matches in Manchester on 18th and 19th July.
"In the UK, we've been really successful over the last six to eight months coming in and there's a huge appetite to work with StubHub," said StubHub director of business development and partnerships Danielle Maged speaking with SportsPro in May. "I think what we offer on the customer service and the security and our dedication to people is really attractive to people. So I think that you'll see that we'll have a ton of partners in the UK over the next two years depending on when contracts expire.
"The UK is a springboard for other territories in Europe," Maged added. "You can expect to see us advance, spreading. Definitely, I would say by 2013 we'll be in another country in Europe and then we're clearly looking beyond Europe."
StubHub allows fans to sell unwanted match tickets securely and directly online and has proven to be particularly attractive to season ticket holders for major sports teams across the Pond who can't always to get to all their team's games.
