Man Utd (Draw)
Aston Villa (Draw)
West Brom (Win)
Newcastle (Loose)
Swansea (Win)
Southampton (Draw)

is my guess

we have a fairly good run of games to start with, sadly i've got us to win them all in my prediction league. had to change a few, just IMO they are all games we can definately win.

We'll probably make a blistering start to the season before imploding after Christmas.

Because we're Everton.

i dont think it will be as bad as last year, but I don't thnk it will be great. Although if we beat Utd then things might be different

Yeah this.

Don't think we'll be 14th in November or go 6 games without a win or anything like that.

However, we won't be 3rd in November either.

I reckon we will be sitting somewhere between 7th and 11th for most of August to January. Then come Jan we do a bit better in the run in and finish 5th to 7th.

There are 3 things which determine how well you do in football games :

1 : players ability.
2 : tactics.
3 : luck.

Of course number 3 you can do nothing about.

Whereas 1 and 2 you can, you need a good mix of both ideally but you can get away with being poor at one of you're strong at the other.

I think at Everton early in Moyes reign we were stronger tactics wise than we were ability wise, Moyes making us hard to beat, installing a brilliant team spirit took us to 4th place.

Then as the ability of our squad improved (due to Moyes quality in the transfer market) that started to outdo his tactics, what had worked so well for us previously wasn't as effective and he didn't change appropriately but the quality of the squad made up for that and in combination we finished 5th twice and reached Europe.

Then we started to start seasons poorly and no one knew why, all kinds of theories were thrown around but regardless of what the club tried to do differently nothing changed.

But i put those poor starts down to Moyes tactics. We start the season and his cautious, negative side comes to the fore as he has us playing hoofball with 7/8 defenders on the pitch before we finally rack up 40 points come the new year and start to play with less pressure and shackles on us.

With a fully fit settled squad we'd start a lot better than we do despite those tactics, but in recent seasons we've gone into seasons with transfer and contract sagas hanging over us, we've gone into seasons with a pretty poor strikeforce. And sometimes we've just been damn unlucky.

But this season (hopefully) we've got a quality striker, we've got 2 important players in and not lost any important players. As long as that stays the same, which knowing Everton is unlikely we will start better than we have been.

We will start better than usual because of the ability of the squad, but we won't start as good as we finish because of the tactics of the manager.

We'll get bummed by United.

United always look tasty their first game of the season. Remember watching the Charity Shield last season? Some of the goals they scored were awesome, passing and movement. They're usually fresh and ready to smash everyone

I think we might have an excellent start ... which for us means an average start. I really think the biggest contributor to our slow starts is losing players (often in a morale sapping way like Lescott) and not bringing in anyone new (either at all or until very late). Pienaar back, one new player, Baines still in blue ... it's hardly front page stuff but for us it has to be a minor morale boost for the squad (rather than hurting). Cahill could be a loss to morale but it wasn't a sale made from lack of ambition (ambition means money) signalling that we can't keep our best players. So assuming we stand pat (or at least don't lose anyone major) I think we could start well. If we don't then at least we've eliminated that from the potential slow start cause bag of mystery.

Well since we always stuff off facing half arsed sides and making a pigs ear of it and dont really get going until we have a few matches against top clubs, surely man utd is a perfect start. I mean last time we opened to one of the top clubs we did really well, right guys? Oh ****

got a feeling everton will start well have a mid winter lull then pick up towards the end of the season to finish 7-8 with out the lull maybe 5th , with a good carlin cup run or what ever its called these days.

We will undoubtedly start ****e.

Then pick up.

But on the whole, our football will be mostly dire, insipid guff.

I think we'll get a draw against Utd then win 4 of the next 5 .. It will be our best start for years.. I also think we'll improve as the season goes on, a top 4 finish is quite possible if we have just a little luck with injuries
