Will our tactics cost us a european place?

I don't have a massive problem with the principle of sitting back a bit away from home and looking to break - it's just we don't have the defensive solidarity of the past couple of years where clean sheets were fairly regular. The defence is improving and I expect next year to have a much better record at the back with a settled back 4.

It is frustrating to see us not keep attacking after going ahead sometimes but I reckon it's more mental than tactical.

Yes but then again, next season we'll see our defense duly in shape and rock solid again.

The only problem is that why would you sit back mid way in the game when you have your opponents in your back pockets and allow them a route back in the game. Why? Why?,,You can't underestimate your opponents/your rivals..that's a basic rule in life and surely in football too.
"don't concead and we'll win" is moyes' rule for me and it does work when you are facing a top 4 team with 5 minutes to go, it shouldn't be on anywhre else.

I know this week we'll be up all happy again that we beat bolton and we're class but that's a separate story. It cannot hide the fact that there's a need for a ruthless mentality to attack when you are on top of your game, don't switch the nob to the defensive tactics all of a sudden.

Oh I totally agree, Faddy.

The frustrating thing is we have SHOWN we can really get at teams - Chelsea, Man Utd and Hull being 3 examples. Yes I know for the latter Hull were (and tbh, are) a poor side but we were ruthless and just attacked time and again - and we got our just reward.

We have the quality... once we have a slightly more solid defence though, I'd be more inclined to go more gung-ho.

We indeed will and we can see that we are a fearsome force to be reckoned with when going forward so I don't see any point to change that.
