Will our tactics cost us a european place?

We play as if we are the boss team at home and get ecstatic that we are buzzing and have that confidence. Then we play Sporting..look boss again until suddenly we decide the famous negative tactics when on top of the game at 2-0 and the game ends at 2-1. We go to lisbon and go toatlly switched off.

We play just like we should against hull and think maybe now is our time with all the three long term injuries starting to show their form. Then we come to Birmingham and go up 2-0 with a good display until at 30 min we decide use the same damn tactics...sit back and see it out ,atleast until half time and go switched off. Birmingham captalise on it and here we go again. We come out for the second half switched pretty much off with the defense shaky and still the good for nothing long ball used here and there when quiet clearly now that we have everyone who is good ball player. It becomes 2-2 and and now we show a bit of intend just like we did at spurs last season.

Are we not using our squad to the full potential or have the players not got enough belief in them that it doesn't matter if you're away you are good enough to beat any team and this one today was a loss for me. i'm sorry, i read a couple of posts where someone said that at th end of the day they are satisfied with a point. We are not in a relegation battle,we should be ruthless in pursuit of a european place next season.

Anichebe looked better, much better and his strike was top class but still why would you not give Bilyaletdinov a chance since that man utd game?? Is it because he'll not hoof it? Because he tries to play it on the ground which is a better approach?

What did Cahill do in the entire game today? Has he lost the heart? If he's only gona rely on his heading ability then he's no good. It's ages since I saw a good late run by him.

Sorry Moyesy, you are a terrific manager..no doubt about that but you have to learn now how to use your fully fit squad to the maximum limit and by that I mean that you put out the best capable on form players. Cahill shouldn't be in the team atm. I have my doubts on Anichebe but he was good today. I'll be furious if DOnovan leaves and still you don't start with Billy. It's no rocket science but I'm eager to see a full strength balanced team with no favourites,if Cahill is one of them.

what makes this so much more frustrating is the fact that we have done all this on the back of two successive big wins, man utd and chelsea which could have turned our season completely.

It was Birmingham today and for me we blew it big time. Stoke away are so tough, City away is massive. These tactics of sitting back in midway in the game must come to an end for god's sake.

For turning a relegation fighting team into a European spot fighting team.

No awards for turning a European fighting team into anything better than that yet is there?

Glass ceiling, you know in that other thread, the 1 in which you ripped Davek, thats his point really. How can we progress, to take us to the next level needs a little bit more than £4.125m Net spend a Season.

Poor tactics on the pitch has nothing to do with how much money he has though.

When the team he does have are winning 2-0 and throw it away and hold on for a point it has nothing to do with how much money he has to spend.

When a team beat Man U and Chelsea in consectutive games but can't beat Birmingham with a 2 goal lead it has nothing to do with how much money he has.

Now i'm not actually criticising Moyes for today but if someone wants to have a look at if his tactics are costing us points then fair do's, but trying to defend him by bringing up the LMA stat and the money one will not work.

Injuries in the first half of the season cost us a euro place lid.

I thought that we had forgotten all that when we had almost everyone in feburary and looked as if we are gona make it. So far we are looking to get there..then fall again, rise up and think its reachable and then bottle it again. It's hard to understand how long we have been living with the "sitting back" tactics with moyes rightly claiming that this is his best squad up to date and still we're not using it to the maximum limit.

Absolutely agree with you there mate.

That genius touch he has with the magic buys is a different story which is amazing in itself. If he can combine that with some good positive tactics CONSISTENTLY then this magic of his would be perfected

Poor tactics??

Oh right, so just before they scored you heard Moyes shout "ANY LONG KICKS FROM THE KEEPER LET IT BOUNCE ALL THE WAY THRU LADS"
