Width/Wingers

Two wingers is too predictable in the modern game, in my opinion.
The best set up would be an out and out winger on one side and a playmaker on the other.
In other words, Sig on one side and Bolasie on the other
Not wanting to sound like davek but isn't that what Martinez used to play?

Not saying it's wrong just preempting replies from others.

I've forgotten what they look like.
Oh wait. No I haven't.

I do feel we need a winger personally. Someone with real pace who can cross

However they'd be useless to us at present until we get a big man in up top

The problem for me is that we don't have quality attacking full backs at present. You can do 4-3-3 but you need people bombing on past them and Baines turns back too often now and on the other side we have no back up for Coleman.

Get Kenny on!

I don't think you can judge it on tonight, the opposition were playing the old 5-5-0 formation, not many teams will line up like That against us, in other games last season and in preseason this year, we have had more than enough to unlock defences, hope Kenny and Lennon get a go in the return leg though. Also would be great if when we do get the ball out wide, there is a massive target man in the box

...i suppose inverted wingers are inverted. I don't think we have inverted full backs, so it's probably down to them to provide width. My concern is not getting behind the opposition full backs because we tend to create when we do that.

Wingers need a target to hit. If we had wingers who can get in behind defences we only have mid fielders going forward for them to hit. Teams can set up against us with a line of defenders along the 18 yard line ready to track runners into the box. The players we have in mid field are not going to cause too much danger in the air for premier league defenders.
All wingers need to have an end product, they need options in the box to mix things up and cause defenders problems. If we have a one dimensional type of attack then we are predictable and therefore easy to set up against.
The lack for a strong quality centre forward will come back to bite us. Roll on January.
