Why we need to be supportive against City

Anybody who knows anything about Everton already understands that we always support the team vocally throughout in the big games. Backs against the wall Everton against a team like City is boss and is exactly the kind of thing we need to turn this season around.

You don't need to make threads or posts telling match going fans what to do, they know what's required.
Anyone who was at the Wimbledon game when we went two down knows that to be true

It's great that this is a sell out: Champions coming to Goodison, not an empty seat, traditional kick off time, cannot wait to get to my seat and hear Goodison give 90 minutes of solid booing and abuse to the players - gives me goosebumps. If I hear one fan try and start, 'Grand Old Team' or suggest that shouting 'turn' every 5 seconds isn't helpful, I will kick them into Stanley Park.

Palace at home last season to catch Arsenal and cement our challenge for the Champion's League. Place was like a library.

What you're saying is true of pockets of fans around the ground, but there's no overarching awareness or consensus.

oook

thought i was having a conversation.

I am an Everton fan long enough to have just missed out on the last league win but to have seen all the crap that came afterwards. Im pretty sure not remembering whatever our ex captain said doesnt change this.

You haven't really discussed anything I brought up...so not sure why you bothered replying to me.

Hope you have a lovely Saturday.

Here you are:

It’s not as if I left my ambition at Manchester United – I came here massively ambitious and still am.‘Since making my debut at Villarreal six years ago I’ve had so many highs. There’s no negativity in the club and we’re all looking to push on and win trophies. ‘I know that the real fans are with us.’

It was back then mate but 20 years ago and the fans today are different, we play that game at the end of this season and the present crowd just wont have the same backing in them.

Its not something a spokesperson for the club, let alone a captain, should say in public but I understand what he means anyways. ...whether or not these fans were actually with them at the time I dunno.

I'm hoping when the chips are down they have that spirit, pray I'm wrong, but us staying up might come down to the crowd influencing the team in a positive way.

Crowd has been a bit crap thus far so maybe we do need threads like this. Bit chicken or egg I know but I seriously doubt a more supportive atmosphere would be a negative.

Since when has a game v Palace, with a large chunk of the season still to play, a big game? In any event it was hardly like a library - the crowd were fuming at the managers team selection from start to finish.

Think the atmosphere was good today. Not Goodison at its loudest but still very loud indeed.

And supportive. There was hardly any moaning, groaning or heckling who is good to see.

I think the fans played their part today. Let's hope it continues (as I know it will at Upton Park Tuesday - 3,500 going down there compared to the 400 they brought to Goodison).
