Why that lot get such constant glowing press

Player Valuation: £40m
Aside from all the ex-RS in punditry, this article explains a lot. Their owners are used to the American model of catering to sports writers where there is a lot more access to coaches and players. Compared to other clubs their front doors are wide open, and I think that makes a huge difference in the coverage they get. It’s not quite sucking up, but it works that way.

The only thing is, they received this favourable treatment from the poodle press long before John Henry fetched up.

Just look at the free pass they have got over Heysel down the decades.

They got into the power of the press early doors. They are incredible good at feeding out news that they want out. To cover bad news they are always ready to push out good news.they have the press in their pockets with fantastic treatment of those that toe the party line. Be nice to us in the press and you get to meet and greet with King Kenny etc. Signed shirts for the kids, have two but print what we want.

A lot of sports writers grew up when they were winning Leagues regularly, so they either supported them or admired them

I think that's why you get such a "meh" approach to Everton from them at best, because they were probably pissy when Everton had that run in the 80's and they want to try and make sure it never happens again

Possibly one of the reasons is that the media know their customer base so they obviously pander to it.
Liverpool along with United have the biggest majority of armchair / JCL fans going.
So articles that are 'on message' to that fan base will create sales & drive internet clicks. SLY Sports are exactly the same. Their whole business is literally dependent on armchair supporters - so who gets all of the exposure?
The two clubs mentioned above with the most armchairs.

As a previous poster mentioned: how they get away with Heysel in the media is completely unbelievable.
Not a single mention of the anniversary last week anywhere to be seen in either electronic or printed media.

I just hope and pray that we can win the league again next season to keep them at bay. However,
as good as Man City are, to win it three times on the bounce is asking something!

They get it because they're history and existence is wrapped up in two disasters that killed 135 people.

That's a high price to pay for media interest.

I'll pass on that.
