Why Leicester and not Everton?

One of the reasons they are doing better than us is that they realise they have to work at it. They have no great history or tradition so they are working away creating a history and a tradition. We on the other hand have both those things and seem content with that. We appear to think it is enough to splash some cash and sit back and wait on a top six position coming our way baca use we were once great.

Luck doesn't even begin to come into it.

They are superior all all aspects of actually being a football club.
Ok mate so why have they finished below us the every season since they won the league. 3 years on the bounce. You think luck doesn’t come into football, they you’re not an Everton fan.

Leicester could finish top 4, but they could easily finish 9th if injuries hit their squad and a few var decisions go against them

They look light years ahead of us. Talking about decisions that went for them. What about the stinking mane dive that VAR gave. They have had it go against them aswell.
From what i have seen they impress me. Am i jealous of how they look? Yes. Absolutely. Because there is no way they should be looking light years better than us.

F off mate.
I’ve already said they 4/5 decision that have gone for them. And had 1 go against them.
Were they light years ahead at the back at of last season, when we had 10 clean sheets in 13.
One on the top team for points for 2nd half of last season.

It’s easy to say a team is miles ahead when one is struggling and one has just won 9-0. I’m not a fan of silva and I think he needs replacing. But let’s not make out Leicester are some supper team.

Only 2 teams are light years ahead and that city & Liverpool, maybe Chelsea look onto something.

I suppose this time last season wolves were light years ahead. This site is knee jerk central
For what it’s worth I would have a bet with anyone Leicester dont get top 4

Finished below us last season and we're only 10 games in, this.

They're still living, to an extent, off Vardy being a freak of nature who's apparently still a top tier striker, for now. But not much longer. Having 20 goals a season up front guaranteed will cover a multitude of weaknesses - see Lukaku at Everton. If you think they can finish 9th below us last season with a younger Vardy up front and then the rest of the side morph into a complete top 4 team in a summer, you're being a little bit silly.

Its got nothing to do with the 9-0. Go back through my posts a few weeks ago and you will see me posting brendan rogers is a far far better manager than silva and there is no real reason why a club like leicester should have got him over Everton.
Their form since rogers took over from last season has them up there with the likes of city and lpool.
I really fail to understand why some Everton fans cant see right beyond their own blue tinted specs.
They look light years better balanced. Organised and effective.

I think the point is from when rogers took over, not all of last season, and what a decent manager can do. From the day he walked in he has had them at it. They look like they are happy to go toe to toe with any team. In contrast look at Everton fans when we are about to face any decent team. We think we're going to get battered.

They buy players to fit specific roles, whereas Everton seem to just look at who is out of favour at the big clubs, or has been in form in the months leading up to the window, and then worry about where to fit them in later. For example, since summer 2018, Brands and Silva have signed three wingers that generally start on the left (Richarlison, Bernard and Iwobi), despite only having Walcott, who spent a decade crying about being a misunderstood striker at Arsenal, to play on the right.

There just seems to be an inherent cluelessness to Everton that no amount of spending is able to fix. Like, I think Silva genuinely believed that Calvert-Lewin was going to be the man to lead the line here, based on him giving Sokratis and Mustafi the run around and looking decent once the season was over. The amount of times that these players have got away with creeping up the table when there's nothing left to play for is staggering.

Everton have been in panic mode since they sacked Roberto. At least when Roberto was here, he had a plan. But with each subsequent manager, plans have changed, new players brought in, old players have left, they've gone from Koeman to Allardyce to Marco Silva. Other teams have had consistent development, but Everton have continually chased the short term solution and had to start over each time. Made worse by many of Steve Walsh's signings, that beg the question whether he was actually competent at his job? It just feels like Everton couldn't get the targets they want, and made panic buys. Who spends 24m on a player like Davy Klaassen and then barely gets a game. He's not the only one. Like either they were ready to swindle Moshiri's money because he was a new fish, or there's money under the table for these deals to go through.

Leicester on the other hand seems like they've been making sensible decisions with their team. You know they must have something decent going on, if players like Vardy end up staying and not leave at the first sign of success.

Wolves last year.
Always a threat of West Ham (who are well, West Ham).
Burnley year before.
Leicester now.

If a team finishes above us once does that count as them 'overtaking' us in the grand scheme of things?

Tottenham, who were in all kinds of trouble before Redknapp & below us again in Martinez' first season, have overtaken us. Man City too, but for obvious reasons.

Burnley are just happy to keep their place in the league and West Ham are even more mediocre than we are. There's potential with Wolves (although I'm not convinced) and Leicester to overtake us but we still have a big say in whether they do or not in my opinion.
