Look, Xabi Alonso, Steve McManaman, Ian Rush, Michael Owen, Gary McAllister... I can't hate them. I wish I could, because Rush haunted us and McAllister made Paul Gerrard look like the tool he was in that derby, but there obviously decent blokes and top players.

We hate Gerrard due to the fact he's a sh*tehawk, not because he was brilliant - which he was.

You won't find an Evertonian who will say otherwise.

Lucas is injured right now mate that's why he's not playing. The thing about Allen is I think everybody needs a player like him in their team. Someone who keeps the ball and just never gives it away. Look at Busquets for Barca, he never sets the world alight but he's vital to their team and his presence allows Messi, Iniesta etc to express themselves. Really rate Allen mate think he has got the potential to be a cracking player.....

Reina vs Howard - despite Reinas current form, I think he beats Howard on ability.

Johnson vs Hibbert/Neville/Coleman - no contest. Johnson is one of the best right backs in the PL.
Skrtel vs Heitinga/Jagielka - pretty even. Can't really decide.

Agger vs Distin - I'd take Agger. One of the best and most composed ball playing CBs around.

Enrique vs Baines - I'd take Baines even though I don't rate Baines defensively. Great delivery though. Enrique started off superbly but his form has been very dodgey lately.

Lucas vs Gibson - Lucas, one of the best DMs in the EPL.

Allen vs Fellaini - pretty even if you ask me, Allen is a superb little player, as is Fellaini on his day.

Gerrard vs Osman - Gerrard, no contest.

Suarez vs Mirallas - Suarez, no contest.

Jelavic vs Borini - Jelavic.

Sahin vs Pienaar - can't really compare as both play different positions, although if I had to chose one I'd take sahin on footballing ability.

So do you think the diving, dj beating, chatting to refs etc is all just an excuse and it masks the fact that he is hated for being a quality player? Cause I've got to say even outside of football (unlike Joey Barton) he seems like a pretty down to earth bloke who does a lot for charity etc.

I know what the obvious answer is, because he plays for Liverpool hence every Everton fan should hate him. But what I find interesting is that on the contrary his fellow scouser Leighton Baines is liked and respected by lots of Liverpool fans despite him playing for Everton. I've spoken to lots of Kopites and the vast majority of them praise Bainsey's qualities and don't have a bad word to say about him. Also, because he's a scouser lots of them want him to do well for England and hence do the area of Merseyside proud. However, when you talk about Gerrard with Blues I get the feeling that theres nothing but discontempt despite his qualities as a player. So let me ask you guys, what makes the two so different? Despite both being quality players (and from the same city) why is one so liked by one set of fans whilst the other is pretty much loathed?

I've heard that he is really not a nice person, from Liverpool fans who know him and deal him on a regular basis.

I have no problem with blues hating him. He's a [Poor language removed].

A fantastic player in his day and would have been a joy to watch in his pomp had he not played for such an odious club.

There's an absolute world of difference between him and Bainsey. Bainsey is a gentleman. Self a facing, reserved and all that's right with football.

Gerrard is a horrible horrible individual.

Ian Rush tortured us for years. I hated seeing him play against us, but I didn't hate him.

Oh and some of the comments and clips on here have been brilliant. Nice jobs lads.
