Why do we always play the darkside at goodison first ?

What is it now, 8 years in a row? There is NO WAY that is coincidence. No. Way.

Yes. It is.

There will be stats in their favour and stats in our favour.

Just the other day I read that in 20 premier league seasons we've played our opening game at home 13 times and they've started at home only 7 times. That's a considerable difference in our favour, but I doubt there are sinister forces at work.

Don't get me wrong, the kopites are jammy and lucky, sometimes to the point of interpretable corruption.

This however is just chance. And there's no massive advantage either way, to be honest.

They have to play us home and away in the season anyway I'm not sure having the home tie later in the season is an advantage?

Found this from another thread Toffee Dan wrote it

"Everton usually play the first Derby at home because they ask for it that way. Each club is allowed to request certain fixtures at specific times (although they don't always get them) - for example the RS don't want to play at home on or around 15th April - the anniversary of Hillsborough - another example is Forest ask to play away on the weekend of the Nottingham Goose Fair".
