Why Did Gary Speed Leave Us?

Saw Gary Speed on TV earlier and made me remember him leaving us under a cloud and being referred to as "Shithouse" by most for ages. I did some digging online and there were some mention of arguments over training methods and that Speed had to sign a confidentiality clause when he left? Who knows the truth? OrAt least has a decent story.

You are on for the one about the lucozade bottle full of vodka. Though that appeared after Kendall had left and he (HK) had gone back to the bar for some more bottles of whisky.
There is a theory that Johnson had gone a bit mad with the overdraft and at that point anything to appease the bank was good enough. Ferguson went to the same exact place behind Wallys back later, and they were talking big about a bid for Rooney later again.

He refused to play at West Ham when he was our captain, and then left for Newcastle so we all fumed.

Apparently there was more to it behind the scenes involving Kendall etc but Speed kept his mouth shut like a good lid.

So, not sure really.

Basically Johnson was a lying dick, Kendall was a drunk and/or Speed was a Shithouse.

The latter theory has the advantage of having a rather good song about it.

I went to West Ham that day , Big Man Skipper , equalised last min' ,...

I ALSO went to Arsenal , 4-0 game . Lost me ticket , got given 1 in the fambo section . Madars fambo , Fergie's Cousin , etc .

Anyway , this little Taffy told me and Duncan's Ma's sisters lad , that THERE WERE NUMEROUS happenings , but FINAL straw came when after training , he went to HK's office , and BOTH HIM AND BUSBY were , " Gouching ,.. " to use a Scouseism . Nice bevvy on table - Spirits .

He volleyed the desk and done one .

He was also , one of uny two Everton players ever , to let on to me personally . By name .

The other was Barmby .

Then ,... Bally RANG OUR HOUSE !!!....
